“Metamorph” by Gabi Pallaska

Art Exhibition on display at the library until 20th June

The “Metamorph” exhibition recently opened at the Embassy of Kosovo in London, a special event that gathered art lovers and community representatives.

After beginning her studies in
Kosovo, Gabi moved to London in
1991, where she build a successful
career in makeup – an influence
that continues to be reflected in her approach to abstract images. During
the COVID-19 pandemic period, Gabi reverted to her passion for painting, opening a new chapter in her artistic creativity.

This exhibition offers a unique visual experience, exploring transformation, colour and emotion through a contemporary artistic approach.

The library was pleased to support the Soroptimist International Barry and District fund rasing for Velindre. The volunteers and patrons of the library managed to raise an amazing £150. This contributed to their 2026 Easter Chick appeal. The grand total was £4,300. This money will enable Velindre Cancer Care to continue their valuable work which in turn will benefit so people in Wales.

"Between the pages of books is a lovely place to be"

The June Draw of the Library lottery was made this morning in the library with the help of Keith Hatton and two regular library supporters. Coincidentally the first number drawn out of the bag was that of Mary Broomfield who had a very welcome surprise whilst on duty at the desk!

The winners are:

£20 no.70 Mary Broomfield
£12 no. 96 Kristin Litton
£8 no.13 Mary Collier

No. 13 is certainly lucky for some, including Mary who has won before.

A special thank you to all who contributed to the Spring Fayre and made it such a great success.
