A new Department for Education independent review, β€œYou really are on your own”: a study of the early deaths of young people who were in care, examined care-leaver death notifications in England during 2025.

The review reports that 112 care leavers aged 18–24 died, with an estimated mortality rate around three to four times that of other young people the same age.

Although the findings relate to England, they must serve as an urgent warning for Wales and the wider UK.

Leaving care must never mean being left alone.

Today, we celebrate you.

To every care experienced young person across Wales receiving their results today, congratulations!

Your results are one part of your story. There are plenty more chapters still to come.

From all of us at Voices from Care Cymru β€” well done. πŸ’™

A Huge Thank You from VFCC's Sing Proud Cymru! 🎢

What an incredible afternoon we had at our Sing Proud End of Project BBQ!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate with us. It was wonderful to spend time together, enjoy great food, and reflect on everything we've achieved as a choir.

From the very first rehearsal to our final celebration, you've made Sing Proud a welcoming, supportive, and fun community. We've seen confidence grow, friendships flourish, and so many memorable moments shared through music.

While we're sad that the project has come to an end , we're incredibly proud of what we've achieved together. Every member has helped make Sing Proud the success it has been.

A special thank you goes to:
Our amazing choir members for your enthusiasm and commitment.
To all the choir tutors throughout the years for all your fantastic musical leadership.
Everyone who helped organise the BBQ and support the sessions throughout the project.
Our supporters and partners who have helped make Sing Proud possible.

This may be the end of this chapter, but we remain hopeful that with future funding, we'll be able to bring Sing Proud back.

Until then… keep singing, keep smiling, and keep being proud! 🎢
