Sully Community Cinema's returns this month with a smash-hit new film about one of the world's most successful performers, Michael Jackson.
Michael tells the rags-to-riches story of the legendary musician from his childhood to the smash-hit Bad tour, and his determination to make a name for himself and overcome the control of his domineering father. Michael's nephew Jaafar Jackson, who portrays the singer once he reaches adulthood, has the same sort of singing and dancing skills that helped turn a shy young man from the industrial city of Gary, Indiana, into a household name and global superstar. Variety said he "nails the look, the voice, the electrostatic moves – and the mix of delicacy and steel that made Michael who he was".
The film (cert. 12), which is packed with many of the most famous songs from Michael and the Jackson 5, including Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, Thriller, Beat It, and Bad, is the highest-grossing biographical movie of all time and one of the biggest hits of 2026. Join us at the Old School on South Road on Wednesday, September 9, to enjoy the story of the future King of Pop's early days and his rise to massive success, backed by songs known to millions everywhere. As one critic said, "You are bound to leave this one dancing."
Tickets at £5, which includes a free drink from our cash bar, will be available at the door from 7pm, and the film starts at 7.30pm. Also, look out for our calendar listing our forthcoming films, which includes new and classic movies, plus the return of our popular Free Film Friday series.
