121 SHOT Work
We work with anyone living within Cardiff and The Vale aged 11-25 years of age around a multitude of topics. Our one-to-one work is delivered in a place of the young persons choice (at home, at school, at a youth club, at a café etc.) We also support young people to access the Department of Sexual Health and their sexual health clinics. Our work with young people is not limited to a set number of sessions and we tailor it to their needs. SHOT Group Work
Similarly to the individual work, we offer group sessions to organisations and schools. These tailored and targeted sessions can be a one off or we can deliver a number of sessions to a group. They are designed to be offered in addition to existing RSE curriculum. How can I refer to SHOT? We accept referrals from all professionals, young people and parents or carers. To make a referral please contact the Sexual Health Outreach Team by emailing [email protected] or by calling (029) 2046 5250.

Working with young people across Cardiff & the Vale has given us the chance to have real conversations about what it means to be a man.

Sometimes, starting the conversation is the hardest part, but talking openly with your mates can make a bigger impact than you think.

Dyma beth ddywedoch chi am ein sesiynau gwrywdod iach…

Mae gweithio gyda phobl ifanc ledled Caerdydd a'r Fro wedi rhoi cyfle inni gynnal sgyrsiau go iawn am yr hyn y mae'n ei olygu i fod yn ddyn.

Weithiau, dechrau'r sgwrs yw'r rhan anoddaf, ond gall siarad yn agored gyda ffrindiau gael mwy o effaith nag yr ydych chi'n meddwl.

Mae ein DMs bob amser ar agor os oes gennych chi gwestiynau neu os ydych chi eisiau siarad. 💬

If something you’re seeing online doesn’t sit right with you, trust that feeling.

Social media can be a great place, but not everything you see online is healthy or right. Talk about it. Question it. Check in with your friends.

And if you ever want to ask a question or chat about something you’ve seen online, our DMs are always open 💬

Os nad yw rhywbeth ti'n ei weld ar-lein yn teimlo'n iawn, trystia’r teimlad yna.

Gall y cyfryngau cymdeithasol fod yn lle gwych, ond nid yw popeth ti'n ei weld ar-lein yn iach nac yn iawn. Siarada amdano. Cwestiyna fe. Checia gyda dy ffrindiau.

Ac os wyt ti byth eisiau gofyn cwestiwn neu sgwrsio am rywbeth ti wedi'i weld ar-lein, mae ein DMs bob amser ar agor 💬

“Man up.”
“Boys don’t cry.”
“Girls are too emotional.”

Sound familiar?

We hear these things so often that they can start to feel normal. But that doesn’t mean they’re harmless.

It’s important to challenge harmful attitudes and start more open conversations.

“Bydd yn ddyn.”
“Dyw bechgyn ddim yn crio.”
“Mae merched yn rhy emosiynol.”

Swnio’n gyfarwydd?

Ni’n clywed y pethau hyn mor aml fel eu bod nhw’n gallu dechrau teimlo’n normal. Ond dyw hynny ddim yn golygu eu bod yn ddiniwed.

Mae’n bwysig herio agweddau niweidiol a chynnal sgyrsiau mwy agored.

From stereotypes and role models to feeling nervous about calling out a friend, there’s a lot that boys and young men are expected to figure out on their own.

But open and honest conversations make a real difference.

This shouldn’t feel awkward, and no one should feel like they have to deal with stuff alone.

O stereoteipiau a modelau rôl i deimlo'n nerfus ynglŷn â herio ffrind, mae disgwyl i fechgyn a dynion ifanc weithio llawer o bethau allan ar eu pen eu hunain.

Ond mae sgyrsiau agored a gonest wir yn gwneud gwahaniaeth.

Ni ddylai hyn deimlo'n lletchwith, ac ni ddylai neb deimlo fel pe bai'n rhaid iddyn nhw ddelio â phethau ar eu pen eu hunain.

Dilyna ni i ddysgu mwy am berthnasoedd iach.

With more than 200 boys and young men across Cardiff and the Vale, we’ve explored a range of topics centred around what is healthy masculinity.

These sessions gave boys and young men the opportunity to reflect, ask questions and learn in a safe, supportive space.

If you’re a parent, teacher, youth worker or someone who supports young people, you can start these conversations too.

Growing up online is tough.

Constant pressure, opinions and influences - sometimes it can feel hard to know what’s right or who to talk to.

But one thing we learned from our healthy masculinity sessions is that more boys are talking about this stuff than you might think.

You’re not the only one figuring things out.

Talk to your mates. Talk to people you trust. Conversations matter💬

Mae tyfu i fyny ar-lein yn anodd.

Pwysau cyson, gwahanol farnau a dylanwadau - weithiau gall fod yn anodd gwybod beth sy'n iawn neu â phwy i siarad.

Ond un peth y gwnaethon ni ddysgu o'n sesiynau gwrywdod iach yw bod mwy o fechgyn yn siarad am y pethau hyn nag y byddech chi'n meddwl.

Nid chi yw'r unig rai sy'n ceisio gweithio pethau allan.

Siaradwch â'ch ffrindiau. Siaradwch â phobl ry’ch chi'n ymddiried ynddyn nhw. Mae sgyrsiau'n bwysig💬

This week, we’ll be sharing some bits from our masculinity workshops with over 200 boys and young men across Cardiff and the Vale.

Many of you told us that you can spot when something doesn’t seem right in a mate’s relationship, but it’s still difficult calling it out

We get it. But sometimes, simply checking in can make a bigger difference than you think.

When would you feel confident saying something?

Dywedodd llawer ohonoch chi eich bod yn gwybod pan nad yw perthynas ffrind yn ymddangos yn iawn, ond ei bod hi'n anodd herio hyn.

Ry’n ni'n deall. Ond weithiau, gall jest checio i mewn wneud mwy o wahaniaeth nag y’ch chi'n meddwl.
