At last night’s full council meeting our own Councillor Andrea Muckley and Councillor Darrell Mawle were voted into office as Chair (Andrea) and Vice-Chair (Darrell). What a fantastic team! We are sure that they will have the resident’s best interests at heart and will represent Cannock Chase superbly, both within the district and further afield. Their job will also be to ensure that council meetings are conducted in a way that is both professional and productive. There are councillors from four different political parties plus an independent representative on Cannock Chase District Council; it is vital that they work together as a team.
Councillor Andrea Muckley stated that “We must work together. We must act professionally and treat everyone that has been elected to the Cannock Chase District Council chamber, as well as the public that voted for us, with respect. We must set an example of how people with very differing views at a national political level can work collaboratively for our wonderful area. That must take priority over and above national issues over which we have no control.
“The Leader of the council confirmed that two of his priorities for this year are the Museum of Cannock Chase and the Prince of Wales Theatre. I welcome working with all councillors of all political groups over the next year to secure a better future for our residents. Cannock Chase needs its theatre, it needs to protect its heritage and it needs to make sure that, moving into the future, the voices of all our residents will be heard.”
