On Tuesday 29th September from 6.45 pm , Staffordshire Libraries present a talk at Cannock Library by Carl Vivian of Leicester University. Entitled 'R Almost Marked the Spot` this fascinating presenatation retells the filming of the search for the remains of King Richard III. Tickets are available by calling 01543 510365, or directly from Cannock Library - £3 for library member, £3.50 for non-members (including refreshments). Please note that places are limited, and that booking in advance is highly recommended to avoid disappointment.

As part of Local History Month , Staffordshire Libraries are holding a `Walk and Talk` around the historic grounds of Beaudesert Hall (not usually open to the general public) on Wednesday 23rd September. Tickets are £2 for Library members and £3 for non-members (Refreshments included). Tickets for this usually sell out quickly so why not ring Cannock Library on 01543 510365 and book a place ? Many historic sites are open to explore for free between 10th and 13th September. Staffordshire County Buildings is one of the 20 sites across Staffordshire opening its doors to visitors (Saturday 13th - booking in advance is essential)

Staffordshire Adult & Community Learning Service run a range of short computer courses for beginners, and for those with basic knowledge which will be starting at Norton Canes library in September : Tablet basics , Using your Digital Photographs & Online Basics / Laptop Basics
Courses run for 5 – 6 weeks in sessions of 2 -2½ hours per week and are charged at £10 (except for the Digital Photographs course which is £38) , however concessions are available.

The 2015 Summer Reading Challenge launches tomorrow. This year it also includes a national attempt to break the record for the most people pledging to do / help a reading challenge.
No need to rush in on the first day, though, as the challenge runs until 7th September. :)

It's Health Information Week from 6th to 12th July.
There will be two events at Norton Canes Library to mark this.
On Thursday 9th July there will be a drop-in session b=from 2pm - 4pm to learn about Staffordshire Marketplace - the directory of well-being, support services, activities and events for all ages across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
On Friday between 10am and 12 noon come and join the regular Get-Together group to enjoy a selection of fruit teas and to find out how your library can help you stay healthy.
No booking required for either event. All welcome.
