One-third of UK businesses fail to test fire alarms in line with the law, meaning if they were to have a fire they wouldn't be compliant.
You should fit enough alarms to cover all areas that belong to our business. Make sure they are tested regularly - ideally every week.
By not testing your fire alarms regularly you are putting your staff and visitors at risk by failing to test the companies fire safety systems in order to meet The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 - 25.2. The JLA recently conducted a survey in which they found 20% of businesses to test their fire alarm system once a year and 40% not to have trained their staff members on the common cause of false fire alarms in the workplace.
On top of this from the JLAs survey, they found 38% of those asked do not have a suitable risk assessment, which would result in the company being found at fault for a fire if one was to occur.
