Something To Look Forward To

Something To Look Forward To A charity website where people with cancer and their families can access a variety of donated gifts. Having cancer can be expensive and is a costly illness.

We provide donated gifts, experiences and essentials to people affected by cancer and their families/Carers. From the moment you are diagnosed with cancer your life is taken over by hospital visits, treatments, tests, uncertainty, and often, financial worries. It is important for cancer patients and their families to have some positive time away from the disease and the nightmare that they are liv

ing through and have some respite and the chance to focus on relationships, create positive memories and have some quality fun time together. The charity ‘Something To Look Forward To’ benefits people with cancer and their carers’ and/or families who have been financially burdened as a result of their diagnosis. It can take a toll on health, emotions, time, relationships and finances. The aim of ‘Something to Look Forward to’ is: “To promote the well-being, relieve the stress and in particular aid the recuperation of those who are experiencing the effects of cancer and its treatment, together with their carer’s and/or families. In particular by the provision of positive individual and/or family experiences”

The objective is to provide a comprehensive website where cancer sufferers and their families can access a variety of free offers donated by companies. These could include such things as restaurant meals; hotel stays; theatre tickets; beauty treatments; tickets for sports events; tickets for theme parks….the list is endless.

💙 BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: Nelson Hotels

We are incredibly grateful to Nelson Hotels for their ongoing support of Something To Look Forward To, carefully creating a range of memorable experiences for people affected by cancer across their collection.

From beautiful hotel stays and relaxing spa experiences to special meals and afternoon teas, their generosity gives our beneficiaries the opportunity to step away from the realities of cancer and spend meaningful time with the people they love.

For Graham, who was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer, that meant an Afternoon Tea for two at Palm Court.

He told us:

“It was a real escape from what we have suffered in the last few months and a chance for us to connect on a new level.”

Graham described the experience as exceptional from start to finish and spoke particularly about the care and sensitivity shown by the team. He even gave a special mention to their waiter, Alex, who he said was “so understanding and considerate”.

The difference it made was huge — Graham rated his emotional wellbeing at just 10% beforehand. Afterwards? 100%

This is exactly why our business partnerships matter. 💙

A hotel stay, a meal, an afternoon tea or a spa experience might be something a business provides every day but for someone affected by cancer, it can provide much-needed respite, connection and the chance to make positive memories together.

A huge thank you to Nelson Hotels and all of the teams across their collection for continuing to give people affected by cancer Something To Look Forward To.

Last summer, Colette and her children missed out on so much.

Following her breast cancer diagnosis in 2025, treatment meant that family days out simply weren’t possible.

This summer looked a little different.

Thanks to a family pass generously donated by Alnwick Castle, Colette was able to enjoy a special day with her husband and children:

“Last year we had to isolate during the whole of summer as I was constantly hospitalised due to the effects of chemotherapy, so the children missed out on a lot.

“The chance to go out provided us with the opportunity to spend time together and enjoy the moment. It has been very hard financially as I am self-employed and had to give up work during treatment, so this was an opportunity to make memories.

“After a very difficult time, it was lovely to visit somewhere so beautiful, have fun together and simply enjoy being a family.”

This is the difference a donated experience can make.

A huge thank you to Alnwick Castle for generously donating family passes for our beneficiaries. Your support has helped families affected by cancer spend meaningful time together and create positive memories when they are needed most. 💙

Forever grateful for the Wizard Walk of York being one of our regular monthly donors 🪄

It's International Day of Charity and, as the holiday Wizard Walks wind down, it's back to Giggle Doctor hospital visits for me next week!

I'm simply potty about working as Dr Teapot for Theodora Children's Charity, bringing smiles, laughter and magic to the wards to create positive moments in some really challenging environments

We also support Something To Look Forward To with monthly donations of Wizard Walk tickets and Wand Kits, so that families affected by cancer can make magical memories too

Both charities are very close to my heart, and I love be able to work them!

💙 This International Day of Charity, could your business give someone affected by cancer Something To Look Forward To?

Supporting our charity doesn’t have to mean making a financial donation.

We work with businesses across the UK who donate their products, services and experiences, enabling us to provide much-needed respite to individuals and families affected by cancer.

🏡 Holiday breaks
🛎️ Hotel & spa stays
🎟️ Event tickets & attractions
🎈 Special days out
🍽️ Restaurant meals & dining experiences
🌿 Health & wellbeing experiences

We’re always looking to build ongoing relationships with businesses who can donate regularly or share suitable availability with us throughout the year.

That could mean a hotel offering a monthly stay, a restaurant donating a regular meal, an attraction providing tickets throughout the year, or a holiday owner sharing dates that would otherwise go unused.

However you choose to support us, your business could help give someone affected by cancer the opportunity to spend time with the people they love, enjoy some much-needed respite and make positive memories away from the realities of treatment.

Could your business help?

We’d love to hear from you. 💙

🌿 A gentle reminder for our cancer community in Norfolk…

Sometimes a whole day out can feel like too much.

Cancer and its treatment can mean fatigue, pain and energy levels that change from one day to the next. That’s why we absolutely love this donated experience from our wonderful friends at Blickling Estate National Trust.

Through ‘Something To Look Forward To’, eligible people affected by cancer can apply for a pass giving them unlimited admission to Blickling Estate throughout the year, for themselves and their partner and/or family.

And the really special thing about this gift?

There’s no pressure to do it all in one day. 💚

Visit the Hall when you're feeling up to it. Wander around the gardens for an hour. Come back another day to explore the parkland. Or simply enjoy a short change of scenery and return home when you've had enough.

When you're living with cancer, having that flexibility can make such a difference. You can enjoy Blickling at your own pace, on the days that work for you.

A huge thank you to Blickling Estate and The National Trust for continuing to make this possible for our cancer community. 🌿

ONE YEAR OF PUREGYM × SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO 💚💪

What a difference a year can make.

Over the past 12 months, our incredible partnership with PureGym has provided 1,450 free 12-month gym memberships to people affected by cancer across the UK.

For many of our beneficiaries, cancer has changed their relationship with their body, their confidence and their independence. Treatment can affect strength and fitness, while the financial impact of a diagnosis can mean that something like a gym membership simply isn't affordable.

PureGym has helped us remove that barrier.

The feedback from our cancer community shows that these memberships are about so much more than exercise. Beneficiaries have told us about rebuilding strength, regaining confidence, feeling less isolated, improving their emotional wellbeing and, perhaps most importantly, having something in their lives that isn't about cancer.

As one beneficiary beautifully put it:

“This membership has been a lifeline for me. I am exercising and laughing more and more. It is a welcome distraction from cancer.”

To the team at PureGym – thank you for believing in our work and for making such a significant commitment to our cancer community.

This feels like the perfect time to start talking about something else we believe strongly in: movement looks different for everyone.

Walking. Swimming. Lifting. Dancing. Running. Stretching. Whatever works for you.

We have something exciting coming this September that will invite all of us to get moving together. 👀💚

🐾 MEET THE NEWEST MEMBER OF TEAM STLFT! 🐾

We’re delighted to introduce Margot, our newest (and possibly fluffiest) recruit at Something To Look Forward To. 💕

Margot is a Tibetan Terrier and after a rigorous recruitment process involving treats, cuddles and demonstrating an ability to sit next to a laptop looking important, she has officially joined the team as our new…

✨ Chief Paw-sitivity Officer ✨

Her responsibilities will include boosting team morale, supervising fundraising buckets, providing emotional support during busy days and ensuring nobody works through lunch when there are walks to be had.

Margot joins our already highly experienced canine workforce of Wilf, Jeremy & Suki and as you can see, the first team meeting went remarkably well. 🐶🐶🐶🐶

We’re not entirely sure how much work is going to get done with four office dogs now on the payroll, but morale has never been higher. 😂

Welcome to the team, Margot! 💚

🏡 Nearly 50 holiday home owners and counting! 💚

We’re incredibly proud of what our partnership with Travel Chapter the people behind holidaycottages.co.uk is making possible for people affected by cancer and financial hardship.

Since working together, nearly 50 holiday home owners across the UK have come forward to donate stays in their properties to our cancer community – giving individuals, couples and families the chance to escape the pressures of cancer, spend precious time together and create memories.

Many of these breaks have already been allocated to beneficiaries, with more wonderful owners continuing to join us as we speak.

What makes this partnership so special is its simplicity. Holiday home owners are giving something they already have – time in their property and turning it into something incredibly meaningful for someone going through cancer.

A huge thank you to the team at Travel Chapter, and to every single owner who has chosen to get involved. Your generosity is giving families across the UK a much-needed break and, most importantly, . 💚
