Over Parish Council

The Parish Council has been made aware of a naturally occurring bee colony in one of the trees on the Village Green.

To ensure the safety of visitors while protecting this important part of our local environment, the area around the tree has been temporarily fenced off and warning signs have been installed. We kindly ask everyone to respect the fencing and avoid the immediate area.

Bees play a vital role in our ecosystem and are generally not aggressive unless they are disturbed. The Council has carried out a risk assessment and will continue to monitor the situation, reviewing the measures in place as necessary.

With the Carnival taking place this weekend, we would appreciate everyone's cooperation in keeping clear of the fenced area and supervising children and dogs whilst visiting the Green.

A recent fly tipping incident at Overcote has brought into sharp focus just what our riverside beauty spot means to everyone connected to the village. We hope it is a one-off and as part of our ongoing commitment to protect the place, we have installed a height barrier and additional fencing. At Over Parish Council we are committed to doing everything we can to maintain and improve Overcote. So, if you visit, please bear this in mind. If you see anything that doesnt look right please get in touch; [email protected] and if you witness something which is illegal (including vandalism) please contact our community police officer on 101 or 0800 555 111. Furthermore if you have any suggestions or wish to help the Parish Council we would love to hear from you. We hope you continue to enjoy Overcote throughout the summer.

Recently Overcote has become the victim of vandalism and misuse. Fences, litter bins have been damaged, large patches of grass have been burnt, signs have been graffiti'd, others have been ripped out of the ground and rubbish has been left behind. None of this is acceptable. At Over Parish Council we are committed to do everything we can to maintain and improve Overcote. So, if you visit, please bear this in mind. If you see anything that doesnt look right please get in touch with the clerk on [email protected] and if you witness something illegal, including vandalism, please contact our community police officer on 101 for non emergencies and ask for the South Cambs Neighbourhood Team. Furthermore if you have aby suggestions or wish to help the Parish Council we would love to hear from you.

There are currently vacancies on Over Parish Council and we are looking for residents who would like to get involved in village life and help make a difference in the community.
Being a parish councillor is a great opportunity to:
• Represent local residents
• Help make decisions about village projects and services
• Support community events and initiatives
• Have a say in the future of Over
You do not need any previous experience — just an interest in the village and a willingness to get involved. Full support and guidance will be provided.
The Parish Council meets regularly at the Over Community & Conference Centre, and councillors work together on a wide range of local matters affecting the village.

We’re currently experiencing issues retrieving information from our previous website, which has unfortunately gone offline. We are working hard to recover the old data and transfer it to our new site as soon as possible.
