What actually happens to your money when you buy a pint of LocAle?

Most of us order without thinking about where that money goes once it leaves our hand. This graphic breaks it down.

You buy a local, independently brewed beer at the bar. The pub pays the local brewer and pays its costs and staff from what’s left. The brewery spends part of that on ingredients from a nearby supplier.

Here's the part that matters. The pub, the brewery and the supplier all pay their staff, and they spend their pay locally too. The money doesn't leave town after one purchase. It keeps circulating through the same streets, shops and pubs.

Every pint keeps that money moving through the place you live.

Something worth thinking about next time you're deciding what to order at the bar.

Want to find a pub taking part? Head to our pub search page and tick LocAle under ‘Features’. Look for the LocAle pump clip crowner on the handpull, that's how you know the beer was brewed nearby.

What's the last local brewery you tried on a night out? Let us know below.

(This is a simplified illustration of how local spending can circulate, not a guaranteed outcome for every pint.)
