The meeting will take place in the Pavilion, Recreation Ground, Woollards Lane, Great Shelford, commencing at 7.00pm.

There will be a couple of events down at the hall/ rec to round off the half term week this week. Cambridge Food Truck Collective will be down on Friday evening with Your Burger Zone and Gryos Square, and Saffron Walden Bouncy Castles are on the rec on Saturday 😄

East West Rail Public Consultation. There is a consultation being held on Friday 1st May between 2pm and 7pm at Great Shelford Rugby Club, The Davey Field, Cambridge Road, Great Shelford, CB22 5JJ.

The eight-week consultation will offer communities along the route a vital opportunity to have their say on the latest plans and help shape the final design of the railway before a Development Consent Order is submitted in 2027.

The consultation will provide latest designs and information on East West Rail, including:
• New high-resolution images of stations and fly-through animations of route sections
• More details on a phased construction period to deliver parts of the project earlier so that communities feel the benefits sooner
• New stations/upgrades to existing stations
• Proposed service patterns and carriage lengths to meet the demand for Universal theme park
• Level crossings
• Discontinuous electrification with hybrid electric/battery trains to support net zero goals
• Reducing environmental impacts and a commitment to biodiversity net gain

There is a serious of public drop-in events along the route, including weekend and online sessions, which will give people the chance to speak directly with our team of experts. A virtual consultation room will also host event materials online, so everyone can access the information and provide feedback in a way that suits them.
