We're marking John Constable's 250th birthday with a closer look at his largest canvas - 'Embarkation of George IV From Whitehall: The Opening of Waterloo Bridge' - which is part of a small but significant collection of the painter's work at Anglesey Abbey.

Constable is widely regarded as one of the greatest English landscape painters and he spent much of his life locally in East Anglia. At Anglesey Abbey you can see a selection of his works, from early oil paintings to his largest canvas, displayed in a home rather than a gallery.

Find out more about the Constable collection, and how it continues to reveal new aspects of the artist's practice, on the Anglesey Abbey website.

Have you ever felt like you’d like to see more people like you in National Trust photography?

We’re on a mission to make sure that everyone sees themselves in our images and feels welcome at our places. To help us make property name images more inclusive, we're looking for people from the local community to feature in our photographs and help us share the message that the National Trust is 'for everyone, for ever.'

No modelling experience is required. We want our images to show real people having fun and making memories.

We have a photographer visiting on Wednesday 17 June, from 2pm. If you’d like to take part in the photoshoot, please contact us at [email protected]

Families, friends, individuals and couples welcome. Thank you!

Today's journey into the archive brings us to this rare colour photo of Lord Fairhaven. Taken around 1955/56, it shows him taking a moment in the Pool Garden, also known as the Narcissus Garden, a tranquil spot even today.

Gazing into the pool, mesmerised by his own reflection, is a statue of Narcissus by William Theed the Younger, 1848.
