Trying to drive away from us? It’s not going to end well 👀

Whilst out on patrol in Cambourne yesterday, neighbourhood officers spotted a driver who attempted to speed off.

They quickly caught up with him, and noticed drug paraphernalia in the back of the car 🚔

A roadside drugs swipe test later, and he tested positive for cannabis 🍃

The man was arrested and later released under investigation.

Slavery was described as a “modern day evil” by a judge when sentencing a couple today for exploiting a man who worked at McDonalds in Caxton Gibbet.

Jan Drevenak, 39, (pictured) and his partner Monika Olahova, 41, were sentenced to a combined total of more than 14 years in prison for their part in the exploitation. Both also face deportation.

Mum-of-two Gill became a Special to fulfil a long-standing ambition of working in a public-facing role where she could help people.

Gill graduated in April last year, and since then the flexibility of the role has allowed her to fit in shifts around her home life and career as an architect and engineering resource manager.

The minimum requirement is 16 hours per month, but she found herself wanting to do more.

Gill is one of the many volunteers supporting policing in Cambridgeshire we’re celebrating during national Volunteers' Week.

Amanda and her fellow Specials dedicated just under 27,000 hours to policing in the county in the past 12 months, while 53 police support volunteers gave more than 4,300 hours.

We’re recruiting for Specials so why not visit our website to find out more and apply https://orlo.uk/d81CP

Gill said: “I’m motivated by the opportunity to help people and make a positive difference in my community. Even small contributions can have a meaningful impact, and I find that incredibly rewarding.

“Becoming a Special constable has been an incredibly rewarding journey. It’s given me the opportunity to challenge myself, support my community, and fulfil an ambition I’ve had since I was younger. I would highly recommend it to anyone.”

We are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was killed in a collision on the M11 near junction 9 to Great Chesterford.

The man, 54, from Outwell, was riding a green Kawasaki ZX 636 when it was involved in a collision with an orange Mini Cooper at about 7am yesterday morning.

Officers are appealing for information and dashcam footage from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the vehicles leading up to it.

Anyone with information should contact police online at https://orlo.uk/tXFY8 quoting Operation Tranmere. Those without internet access should call 101.

Amanda had worked in hospitality since she was 19 but during Covid lockdown she realised she needed something new.

Something that would always be interesting, wasn’t a desk job, would focus her mind and benefit from her people skills.

So she retook maths and English GCSEs and successfully applied to become a Special constable.

Today she is one of the many volunteers supporting policing in Cambridgeshire who we’re celebrating as national Volunteers' Week begins.

Amanda and her fellow Specials dedicated just under 27,000 hours to policing in the county in the past 12 months, while 53 police support volunteers gave more than 4,300 hours.
We’re also recruiting for Specials so why not visit our website to find out more and apply https://orlo.uk/iB5Xx

Amanda, 34, said: “To someone thinking of becoming a Special, I would say do it. Don’t even question it.
“Challenge yourself, you’ll be amazed what you can achieve; not just for yourself but for the public too. It’s an incredible world out there, and what an exhilarating way to see it.”

👮 "The police are the public and the public are the police."
📞These words from Sir Robert Peel, the founder of modern policing, certainly rang true last Wednesday evening (27 May) when quick-thinking from a victim of a motorhome theft and his relative led us to arresting a 62-year-old man in connection with the theft.
⚠️ The victim called us to report the motorhome had been stolen from a property in Orwell, and as it had a tracker fitted, he also provided updates to his relative who was searching and found it in Bar Hill.
⛓️ Officers were behind and after a short chase, arrested the 62-year-old man, of no fixed address, on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
He has been bailed until 27 August and an investigation is on-going.

Sergeants from our B*H Dog Unit recently attended an event at the College of West Anglia in Milton, along with Cambridge NPT officers, to tell the students all about what it takes to be a police dog handler. 👮 🦮

Following the event, one student said: "The demonstration was very informative; we got to learn about the inner workings of the police Dog Unit. The differences between individual dog's personalities and how they are utilised was good to see in practice".

Another student said: "It was a very inspiring experience and a good insight into what it takes to be a police officer working with dogs. And the dogs were very cute!"

We had a fantastic time talking to the students, and PDs Crisp and Rex enjoyed all the attention! 🐶
