The Book Fairies are getting ready for our FOURTH treasure hunt! Repost this pic if you're planning to get involved ☠

This is one of the events that was shifted later on the book fairy calendar due to various factors 💚

What is Book Fairy Treasure?

It's a worldwide attempt at a treasure hunt for book lovers. Have a look at all the activity from the last three years by using the hashtag ! 👑

How can you get involved?

Save up some books for book drops next weekend (29-30 August) and add a little extra magic. Maybe a pirate symbol, or a gold nugget, or simply post clues online so that people can try to find your treasure! You can even arrange a fun treasure hunt for kids in your local neighbourhood 🗝

This year will be a little different for some of you - so do what you feel comfortable with. If that means reading some books out loud on your online pages then that’s great too!

We will also be running some fun online treasure hunts so that more people than ever can be involved! Watch this space!

Treasure awaits for those that dare,
To take on an adventure that with we will share.
Books and envelopes left for you to find,
with clues for you solve and unwind.
Seekers and hunters please take a look,
for at the end of the trail there might wait a book,

Look what I found on our book swap today, a brand new, just published book from What a lovely idea and a great place to leave it. Our book swap has been a mini library for locals in lockdown and now through donations from visitors to The Lizard it helps to keep Brownies and Scouts running for the local children.

Just in case it helps anyone at all :)

Some of you may already know about this but we are hosting our own 500 words story competition, inspired by BBC Radio 2.

Open to all Primary school aged children in the Camborne area. All you need to do is write a story in 500 words or less and message it to us on here or email it to: [email protected]

Stories need to be original but can include pre-existing characters. Parents can help as long as they don't change the children's words. We will not be judging based on spelling or grammar, its all about the story itself. You can enter even if you have already entered the official BBC competition.

Stories will be judged in two categories; age 4-7 and 8-11, so make sure you include your name and age in your entry.

The Library staff will judge all entries, then the shortlisted stories will be judged by local award winning author Chris Higgins - Author! The winner from each category will get a selection of Chris Higgins books chosen by the library staff.

The competition ends at midnight on May 31st so you have plenty of time to get writing! Any questions feel free to message us or comment below.

After today I'm afraid I won't be taking any more requests for books, I've had so many messages and I just want to say thank you for all looking for some positivity in this difficult time. The Book Fairy won't be leaving but I'm not willing to put anyone's health at risk, I hope you understand and anyone who has requested a book will be getting something. It may take a while because of the sheer number of requests but I will bring something to you. Stay healthy and happy reading everyone :) x

At this point we have to stick together and if anyone knows someone who is isolated, friends, relatives, neighbors. We will be happy to drop off books at their homes where it's wanted. Children, adults or both. I cover Camborne/Redruth and sometimes Hayle but anywhere else there may be a local Book Fairy who can do this too. Bookfairies all over the U.K. have been incredibly lucky to have been donated LOADS of books by Wordsworth ( ) to help celebrate THREE YEARS OF BOOKFAIRIES!!
70 books were donated to Cornwall to hide! Some copies of these were dropped in Pool waiting for a lucky finder!
(My trusty assistant seems to have been in a bit of a rush and someone will be double lucky!)
