A recent move around in the band room has uncovered some band regimental history.
A side drum from the Band of the British Army 257 (Southern) General Hospital (Volunteers), a Territorial Army unit, was found amongst other items.
257(S) General Hospital (V) RAMC unit formed in 1967 under the Duke of Yorks Headquarters in Chelsea, London. The band formed and operated during this time until the unit’s disbandment in 1995 when it amalgamated with 217 (London) General Hospital and 221 (Surrey Field Ambulance) to form the 256 (City of London) Field Hospital (Volunteers).
The Disbandment parade was held at Saighton Camp in Cheshire on 30th September 1995.
