Honoring 80 years since Victory in Europe Day — a moment that marked the triumph of courage, unity, and sacrifice. As we reflect on the end of WWII in Europe, we also recognize the vital role of military medics and the life-saving medical coverage provided to countless soldiers and civilians. Their care was as critical as any weapon in the fight for peace.

Maj Gen Hodgetts, Master General Medical and Colonel Commandant RAMS has written a poem to honour the momentous day.

On April 22, 2025, the Defence Medical Services proudly hosted its inaugural “Apprenticeship Award”
ceremony for the very first time, aimed at recognizing the dedication, hard work, and exemplary teamwork
of individuals who have demonstrated outstanding
performance in their roles. The event took place at the esteemed Whittington Barracks, the home of the Defence Medical Services, located in Lichfield.

Congratulations Pte Gurung! Keep up the inspirational work.

Just over 2 weeks has passed since Officer Cadet Roser commissioned in to the RAMS as a Medical Support Officer after completing the 44 weeks at RMA Sandhurst.
The Corps Colonel (Col Winder KHN) and the SO1
Change (Col Dodd) attended the parade to congratulate Officer Cadet Roser.
Please join us in wishing 2LT Roser the best of luck with the rest of her career.

Some exciting things have happened this week.
Picture 1: CCS 251 graduated and the RAMS corps Col attended and proudly welcomed Reserve and Regular Professionally Qualified Officer’s into the Corps. Congratulations to all those on the course and good luck with your career.
Picture 2: The first RAMS Turning of the Pages in Westminster Abbey this weekend. A momentous occasion.

FORCE ATLANTIC 24:
The Army’s first all female ocean rowing team successfully completed The World’s Toughest Row on 26 January, having rowed 3,000 miles unsupported from La Gomera to Antigua!

Three of the four rowers are serving within RAMS - Skipper Capt Imy O’Brien (Physio)
Maj Rebecca Glover (GDMO)
Cpl Emma Gibb (RN)
completed their crossing in 46 days alongside WO1 Sheridan Lucas (RLC).
Maj Emily Lawson (Physio), Capt Elisha Bell (Dentist) and Capt Victoria Kinkaid (GDMO) are members of the wider support team.

Force Atlantic’s aims were to Promote, Inspire and Belong - promoting women in the military, inspiring others to step outside their comfort zone and building a sense of belonging in a team larger than themselves.

What an INCREDIBLE achievement for you all!!
