Great news for Deepcut residents! 🎉

The public car park at St Barbara's Church is expected to open in early July, providing improved access to the area and supporting the wider park development.

Thank you to everyone for your patience—we look forward to seeing this valuable community facility open very soon. 🚗🌳

Residents will soon be able to use the public car park at St Barbara's Church in Deepcut, with the facility set to open in early July.

Following discussions between Skanska and the council, the remaining works needed to complete the formal park have now been agreed, allowing a timetable for opening the car park to be confirmed.

Surrey Heath Portfolio Holder for Built Environment & Regulation Cllr Alan Ashbery said: "I know many residents have been frustrated by the wait for this car park to open, so I'm pleased we can now confirm that it is expected to open in early July.

"I'd like to thank residents for their patience while the final stages of the wider park development are completed by Skanska. We're looking forward to the facility being made available to the community very soon."

Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the heroes of D-Day.

On June 6, 1944, thousands of brave men and women changed the course of history through their determination and commitment to freedom.

As we remember their extraordinary service, let us also reflect on the values they fought to protect—peace, unity, and hope for future generations.

We will never forget their sacrifice. Lest we forget.

☀️Stay safe in the sun!

Warm temperatures are forecast for Surrey Heath over the next week - this can pose health risks for some people.

Keep an eye on the weather forecast, carry water when out and about, and look out for those who may not cope as well in the heat.

More information below🔽

The hot weather is expected to continue in Surrey Heath over the next few days.

While some people enjoy the sunshine, others can struggle in the heat, especially the young, elderly and vulnerable people.

Try to stay out of the direct sun, especially during the hottest part of the day between 11am and 3pm when UV rays are strongest.

Use high factor sunscreen, stay hydrated, and keep curtains and blinds closed to help keep your home cooler.

The first meeting of the West Surrey Shadow Council took place today (21 May) following recent elections - a key step towards the new West Surrey Council assuming operational responsibilities in April 2027.

Shadow councillors came together to start preparations for the new council, with Councillor Paul Follows appointed Leader and Councillor Shaun MacDonald as Deputy Leader.

The Shadow Council will work closely with councils across Surrey, partners and local communities to shape how the new West Surrey Council will operate, ensuring it reflects local priorities and continues to deliver high-quality services.

In the meantime, council services continue as normal. Residents should contact their existing county, district or borough council or councillors for enquiries about day‑to‑day services. Shadow councillors can answer resident queries on local government reorganisation and the transition to the new authority in April 2027.

This follows the first meeting of the new East Surrey Shadow Council yesterday.
