Today, weโre focusing on one of the most important tools for staying safe in, on, and around water โ The Water Safety Code ๐
Created by the Royal Lifesaving Society UK (RLSS UK), the Water Safety Code is a simple, four-step guide that helps everyone make safer choices before and during any activity near water

Whenever you are around water:
๐ท Stop and Think โ Take time to assess your surroundings. Look for the dangers and always research local signs and advice
๐ท Stay Together โ When around water always go with friends or family. Swim at a lifeguarded venue
In an emergency:
๐ท Call 999 โ If you are at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Donโt enter the water to rescue
๐ท Float โ If you fall in or become tired when in water, stay calm, lie on your back, and float to live. If someone else has fallen in, throw them something that floats and call 999
Whether youโre swimming, paddling, walking the shoreline, or simply enjoying the view, the Water Safety Code is for everyone โ locals, visitors, families, and seasoned water users alike
Small actions save lives ๐
