By volunteering you will help with:
- Event guidance and visitor assistance
- Stewarding and crowd management

BACK TO SCHOOL – PARKING & ROAD SAFETY REMINDER

With the new school year starting, we’d like to remind everyone to park safely, legally and considerately, particularly around school drop-off and pick-up times.

Drive at an appropriate speed:
Please slow down around schools and residential areas, remain alert and be prepared for children and pedestrians who may step into the road unexpectedly. Remember, the speed limit is a maximum, not a target.

School KEEP CLEAR markings:
Please keep these areas clear at all times. If you regularly see vehicles parking on them, please report this to your local PCSO or Wiltshire Council.

Yellow lines & parking restrictions:
These are enforced by Wiltshire Council Civil Enforcement Officers, not Wiltshire Police.

Blocked driveways:
If a vehicle completely blocks your driveway and you are unable to get in or out, this may be considered an obstruction. PCSOs do not have powers to deal with obstruction — please contact Wiltshire Police on 101 so a police officer can assess the circumstances.

Your local Neighbourhood Officers:
Throughout the new school term, your local Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out patrols around our schools.

Officers will be engaging with parents, pupils and school staff, monitoring traffic congestion and addressing concerns around parking and road safety.

We will also be looking at the safety of children walking to and from school, providing reassurance and encouraging everyone to use the roads and pavements safely.

Lets work together:
We know school parking can sometimes be frustrating for residents and parents. By showing consideration to one another, driving at an appropriate speed and parking responsibly, we can help keep our school communities safe and accessible for everyone.

New Restriction Zone:
Fynamore School will be operating a restriction zone in partnership with Wiltshire Council to help reduce school traffic congestion.

Battle of Britain Day commemorates the pivotal aerial campaign during the Second World War in which the Royal Air Force defended the United Kingdom against attacks by the German Luftwaffe.

The day serves as a reminder of the courage, resilience and determination of those who defended the nation, and of the significance of the Battle of Britain in demonstrating that Germany could be resisted and ultimately defeated.

Today, alongside our local RAFA representatives, we proudly raised the flag in remembrance and to commemorate this important occasion.

Town Mayor Tim Havenith said: "Today we show our support for the Royal Air Forces Association and for all those who have served, continue to serve, and support the RAF community.

"I want to thank our local RAFA representatives for the work they do throughout the year, and for the support they offer to veterans, serving personnel and their families. It is appreciated."

These sessions offer a safe and supportive space to build confidence, connect with others, and focus on wellbeing.

The RISE Trust Youth Team supported by Calne Area Board and Calne Town Council.

‼️Spaces Available‼️
Our Calne wellbeing has spaces available. These sessions are targeted at young people who might need some extra support, struggling with mental health, part of the LGBTQ community, or find our main session just a little too much. They are referral only so speak to a member of staff or drop us an email!

OVER 50s DAYTIME DISCO – CALNE

Looking for a fun afternoon out with great music, dancing and good company?

Join us for an Over 50s Daytime Disco at Calne Town Hall on Wednesday 14th October, from 2pm–4pm.

Expect an afternoon of classic disco favourites and feel-good music, with our DJ keeping you on the dance floor. There will also be a bar serving refreshments and a raffle with prizes to be won.

Collection points are run by dedicated volunteers. These welcoming “pop-up” branches offer more than just a place to make loan payments or savings deposits—they’re an opportunity to connect with the Acorn Community Bank team in a friendly, supportive environment.

Whether you need financial guidance, assistance, or just a chat, the volunteers are here to help.

Throughout World Alzheimer’s Month, Beyond Dementia are hosting ‘Understanding Dementia and How You Can Help Champions’ in libraries across Wiltshire, sharing knowledge, answering questions and helping to create more dementia-friendly communities.

Are you 16+ and up for a Challenge? All you need to do is pick up your free Reading Challenge bookmark and read 3 books. Every book you read earns a stamp. Once you’ve earned 3 stamps, hand your bookmark back to any Wiltshire library to be entered into the prize draw.

🏆 First prize: 1x £50 book voucher
🏅 Two runner up prizes: 1x £25 book voucher each

The Challenge runs between 5 September to 5 December 2026. Books, eBooks and audio/eAudiobooks all count. Get reading to be in with your chance of winning!
