πŸ“’ Have Your Say! πŸ“’

At the heart of everything the Parish Council does is our community. To help us understand the priorities, concerns and aspirations of residents, we're asking for just 5 minutes of your time to complete a couple of short surveys.

πŸ“ **Community Survey** – helping us understand the views and priorities of residents across the parish. https://forms.office.com/e/KL2h46ZeiJ

🌱 **Climate & Environment Survey** – gathering specific feedback on green issues, sustainability and climate-related priorities within our community. https://forms.office.com/e/gLqPStYw7J

Your views will help shape future plans and ensure that the Parish Council's work reflects what matters most to local people.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts , every response makes a difference.

As we celebrate Volunteers' Week, we wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers who help make our community such a wonderful place to live.

From our Parish Councillors who generously give their time to support the community, to the dedicated team who contribute to, produce and deliver inSPIRE magazine each month, your efforts make a real difference.

Thank you also to the many volunteers who run sports clubs, social groups and craft groups, helping to bring people together and creating opportunities for residents of all ages. We are grateful to those who look after our community defibrillators, ensuring they are ready when needed, and to everyone who works behind the scenes to organise the village's much-loved events and celebrations.

The vibrant, welcoming communities we enjoy today would simply not be possible without the time, energy and commitment of volunteers. Whether your contribution is large or small, regular or occasional, it is valued and appreciated.

To each and every volunteer, thank you for everything you do. You help make our villages the special places they are.

As a Parish Council we have a number of assets that we own and manage. Each year we assess all our assets and identify any maintenance work that is required.

During this years survey it was identified that the two benches located by Tile Court in Derry Hill needed some TLC.

One of our Councillors Vaughan Mizon volunteered to do the work to reinstate the benches to their former glory. I hope you will agree that he has done a fabulous job and they both now look wonderfully refurbished

Thank you.

Work is progressing with the Parish Council to identify our priorities for the long term. As a council we recognise that the community have many ideas on things that they would like improved in the locality so we would like to hear your ideas.

To help find out more we have designed a simple survey which we would appreciate as many people completing as possible. We will then analyse the responses and look for projects we can complete ourselves and topics that we can help lobby other organisations.

🚧 Road Safety Improvement Works – Church Road Update 🚧

Residents will shortly begin to see the start of the long-awaited road safety improvement works in the village. Following feedback from residents, improving road safety has been a major focus for the Parish Council and we are pleased to see the project now reaching the implementation stage.

The scheme includes a number of measures designed to improve existing traffic calming, including:
β€’ Modifications to the junction with the A4
β€’ Coloured high-friction surfacing
β€’ Granite-style setts across the carriageway
β€’ Pencil bollards outside the school
β€’ A raised pedestrian crossing near the church

The road closure will begin tomorrow, Monday 18th May, from 9am. Initial works will focus on improvements to the A4/Studley Lane junction and the area in front of the war memorial. We understand that road closures will relate to the specific area being worked on at that time.

Construction work is expected to last approximately 6 weeks, although timings may be subject to change.

During this period, Church Road will be closed to through traffic, with resident access maintained where reasonably possible. There may however be delays at times while machinery and materials are moved around the site. Parking will also not be permitted within the closure area to ensure safe working conditions and access for construction vehicles.

Residents should also be aware that:
β€’ Carriageway resurfacing along Church Road is planned for July
β€’ A further road closure is currently anticipated in August 2026 to complete remaining carriageway works.
Both these tasks are being completed by Wiltshire Council and as yet we haven't received any specific dates.

We would also like to clarify that the initial works will not improve the road surface along Church Road itself. Resurfacing is being carried out separately under a different workstream and must follow completion of the safety measures.

We fully appreciate that these works will cause disruption and thank residents for their patience and understanding while the improvements are completed.

Please note that Wiltshire Council are leading and managing this phase of the project.
