Following feedback from our recent residents’ survey, we’re going to trial a monthly community engagement and coffee morning.
Residents told us they would like more opportunities to speak to the Parish Council informally, and there was also interest in having a community café. We’ve combined these ideas to create an opportunity for residents to drop in, have a cuppa and a chat, and speak to someone from the Parish Council if they have any questions, ideas or concerns.
The sessions will be held in the Old Meeting Room at Lansdowne Hall, from 9.00am–12.00pm. We have three dates booked so far, with more to follow:
• Thursday 10 September
• Thursday 15 October
• Tuesday 17 November
The Parish Clerk and at least one councillor will be available at each session, and everyone is welcome to drop in, whether you have something you’d like to discuss or simply fancy a coffee and a chat.
We appreciate that morning sessions won’t work for everyone, so we’re also looking at the possibility of holding some evening events, depending on hall availability. We’ll share details of these as soon as we can.

You will recall in early June there was a pre application consultation completed by Gallagher and Gleeson on the possibility of developing 1200 houses on land south of Pewsham.
We have now been notified that the first of those developers has now formally submitted a planning application to Wiltshire Council. This application is for 600 houses and is situated on the land that is closest to our parish.
The Parish Council will be looking at the application in detail and will be submitting comments through the planning process. We wanted to ensure that the community were aware the application had been submitted so it can be viewed and comments submitted into the formal process.

The closing date for comments is the 14th September 2026.

People’s Emergency Briefing – Thursday 8th October at 7:30pm



Derry Hill and Studley Parish Council will be hosting a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing film at 7:30pm on Thursday 8th October, in the New Meeting Room of the Lansdowne Hall, Petty Lane, Derry Hill, Calne, SN11 9QY.



The People’s Emergency Briefing film is a 50-minute documentary film released on April 7, 2026. It presents the evidence on the climate and nature crisis gathered during a November 2025 expert briefing in Westminster. The film explores the likely impacts of climate breakdown on public health, food systems, the economy, and national security.
