Loch Katrine has been supplying fresh drinking water to Glasgow and much of Central Scotland since the Victorian era, playing a hugely important role in the region’s history and development.

Step aboard the historic Steamship Sir Walter Scott for a memorable 2-hour return cruise between Trossachs Pier and Stronachlachar, departing at 10.30am and 2.30pm. You can also take your bike onboard — or hire one at Trossachs Pier — and enjoy the scenic 14-mile cycle back along the quiet lochside road.

There’s also a relaxing 1-hour circular Steamship cruise departing Trossachs Pier at 1pm.

Looking for a shorter trip? Our 45-minute circular cruises depart throughout the day at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1.15pm, 2.15pm, 3.15pm and 4.15pm, making it easy to fit a cruise into your visit to the Trossachs.

Here’s a closer look at our scenic tower at Loch Katrine. You probably won’t notice it from the loch, as it has been carefully designed to blend into the surrounding landscape, while offering a range of spectacular viewpoints across the scenery of Loch Katrine and the Trossachs.

The tower is free to visit and can be accessed easily from the Trossachs Pier car park.

Another gorgeous day at Loch Katrine today. Sadly, due to a technical issue, the Steamer won't be sailing at 10.30am, but will be back for 1pm and 2.30pm. We've also got 45-minute sailings all day today on Rob Roy III.

Here's Steamship Sir Walter Scott approaching Stronachlachar Pier, where she sails twice each day on Loch Katrine.

You can enjoy a return cruise, or travel one-way and walk or cycle back along the lochside. There is also the option of a Freedom Ticket, giving you time to explore Stronachlachar between 11.30am and 3.30pm, with the chance to enjoy food and drink at the Pier Café before returning.
