Yma yn hen weithdai peiriannau chwarel lechi enfawr Dinorwig, rydyn ni’n rhannu stori anhygoel y diwydiant llechi – diwydiant Cymreig a Chymraeg i’r carn – o’r grefft i’r gymuned. Cewch weld chwarelwyr profiadol yn hollti llechi a gwylio’r gof wrth ei waith. Cewch ryfeddu at olwyn ddŵr fwyaf tir mawr Prydain a chamu i dai’r chwarelwyr, bob un yn cyfleu cyfnodau allweddol yn hanes y diwydiant – o’i ddechreuad ym 1861, i Streic Fawr y Penrhyn ym 1901 a chau chwarel Dinorwig ym 1969. Mae mynediad AM DDIM diolch i nawdd Llywodraeth Cymru. Bob tro y byddwch chi'n prynu rhywbeth gennym, neu yn cyfrannu rhodd boed fawr neu fach, byddwch yn ein helpu i sicrhau fod Amgueddfa Cymru yn perthyn i bawb ac yma at ddefnydd pawb. Located in the former Engineering Workshops of the enormous Dinorwig Slate Quarry – we tell the astounding story of the Welsh slate industry – ‘the most Welsh of Welsh industries’ - from its craftmanship to its communities! Enjoy slate splitting demonstrations with our experienced quarrymen and watch the blacksmith at work, marvel at the largest waterwheel on mainland Britain and visit the Quarrymen’s houses which show life in 3 key time periods of the industry; 1861 at its start, 1901 during the Penrhyn Lockout and 1969 when Dinorwig quarry was finally closed. Our entry is FREE to all thanks to funding from the Welsh Government. Every purchase you make from us and every gift you give us, however small or large, will help us ensure that Amgueddfa Cymru belongs to everyone and is here for everyone to use. Dros y misoedd diwethaf, mae ein tîm curadurol wedi bod yn sganio rhai o'n gwrthrychau anhygoel mewn 3D – gwrthrychau a fydd yn rhan o’n prif arddangosfa newydd.
Hyd yn hyn, mae mwy na 150 o wrthrychau wedi cael eu sganio. Dyma 4 ohonynt!

Over the past few months, our Curatorial team have been 3D‑scanning some of the incredible quarry objects which will be going into our new main exhibition.
So far, more than 150 objects have been scanned! Here are 4 of them!

Os byddwch chi’n mynd draw i yfory dewch i ddweud helo! Bydd ein chwarelwr draw yn Abergynolwyn yn hollti a naddu llechi a bydd cyfle i glywed mwy am ein ailddatblygiad.

If you’re going to be visiting the Talyllyn Railway’s Heritage weekend this Saturday, come and say hello to our quarryman who will be providing a slate splitting demonstration at Abergynolwyn. There will also be a chance to hear more about our redevelopment.

Guided Tours: Traces of the Slate Industry 👣

Dewch i ddilyn taith y lechen gyda staff yr Amgueddfa lechi o gwmpas Parc Padarn. Cewch gyfle i glywed am hanes y chwarelwyr ar y graig ac yn y gwaliau, ac i ddeall mwy am chwarel Vivian, inclên a’r ‘Blondin’.

Follow the story of slate with the Slate Museum staff around Parc Padarn. Hear about the history of the quarrymen on the rock and in the 'gwaliau', and understand more about Vivian quarry, inclines and the 'Blondin'.
