Small Hillfort North East Of Gelli Ffrydiau Near Nantlle

Small Hill Fort located near Gelli Ffrydiau / Drws y coed, occupying a defensive position on a knoll overlooking Llyn Nantlle. It is oval in shape, the walls sit on top of a steep and craggy rise with a narrow causeway allowing the only obvious approach to the site from the west (Geulan, Caeronwy direction).

Not much known about date of construction but with location and views considered i would guess it to be Iorn age. (500 BC)

Site Description A roughly oval hillfort, c.114m E-W by 68m, set upon a flat-topped hill above the Afon Llyfnwy, defined by scarps/banks representing banks or walls, with additionl works on the E & W. (source Os495card; SH45SE4) J.Wiles 23.09.03
