Julian Lewis, Conservative candidate for New Forest East - and a long term great WASPI supporter - is first out with the WASPI General Election Pledge. We are very grateful for his ongoing support.

Another busy week on the campaign trail in New Forest East, with teams out in Brockenhurst, Totton, Dibden Purlieu and Beaulieu.

Many positive conversations again on the doorsteps, with encouraging comments about Julian’s casework record and longstanding support of so many local causes.

If you have yet to receive a copy of Julian’s election address from Royal Mail and would like to see it, you can find it here:

Another full and positive week on the campaign trail in New Forest East, with teams out in Sway, Totton, Hythe and Blackfield.

An excellently organised hustings was held in Sway on Wednesday, which ensured a good opportunity for electors to hear from all candidates on a variety of subjects.

Julian had the opportunity to chat to many residents at various events throughout the week, ending with one of his favourite annual events; Fawley Armed Forces Day , this afternoon.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our longtime treasurer, Norman Fowler. Norman, who fought in the D-Day Landings, would have been 99 next month.

A kind-hearted and modest man, Norman was a stalwart and great supporter of Dibden Purlieu and Hythe Conservatives for many years, alongside his wonderful wife, former County and Parish councillor, Jo Fowler, who predeceased him last year.

Rest in peace, Norman, and thank you.

***PROUD OF OUR VETERANS***

With Remembrance Sunday just around the corner, our thoughts are drawn to those that bravely fought for our country in past wars and conflicts, but also to those that are serving us today.

Poignant perhaps, that this news story coincides at this time of remembrance. We are delighted that the French Government has awarded the Legion D'Honneur Medal to local Second World War Veteran, Norman Fowler. His wife, Cllr Jo Fowler, proudly shared the news at this month's Parish Council meeting at The Grove.

It is fitting that Norman's courageous actions in the D-Day Landings have been acknowledged, which was reported in the Lymington Times last week (attached). Congratulations, Norman!

An excellent turnout at the New Forest East Conservatives AGM today, where outgoing Chairman, James Hartley-Binns, proudly presented our President, Brenda Spearing, with the NFECA Commitment Award.

Brenda was both surprised and touched to have been acknowledged after all her help in preparation for the elections in May. She celebrates 50 years as a member of the Association next year, having first joined to help in the February 1974 General Election. Well done, Brenda, and thank you!

James was presented with a pen as a thank you from the Officers for his long tenure of hard work and dedication as Chairman. Thank you James.

Out and about talking to residents in Hythe recently and had some interesting conversations: namely lots of support for HYTHE FERRY and concerns that a reinstated passenger railway could further impact on the future of it.
