Today is UNESCO International Day of Caves and Karst!🦇

At Poole's Cavern, we're proud of the conservation work that we do and the research that we assist with to help us explore, understand and protect caves.

Buxton Civic Association (BCA) owns and manages Poole’s Cavern as a not-for-profit visitor attraction as well as caring for more than 160 acres of woodland around Buxton 💚

Every visit, donation and membership helps protect Buxton’s nature, history and green spaces.

Join us at Poole’s Cavern on Sunday 13th December at 7pm for a very special evening of live music, Christmas favourites and plenty of festive spirit 💖

🎺 Fairfield Brass Band will open the evening with 45 minutes of festive brass favourites in our Visitor Centre, before a short interval and then a journey underground…

🎶 Christmas Sing-Along in the Cave
Once inside the cavern, singer, performer and musical director Ray Mcleod will lead us through 45 minutes of Christmas favourites, and you’re invited to join in!

With the natural acoustics of the cavern, festive lighting and the sound of voices echoing through the rock formations, this promises to be a Christmas experience you won’t forget.

Tickets are expected to sell quickly, so don’t miss out! BCA Members are eligible for a discounted ticket.

Buxton Civic Association are proud to follow in the footsteps of the Redfern Family who cared for Buxton's only show-cave until 1965.

Following a short period of closure, BCA re-opened Poole's Cavern in 1977 and tours of this Natural Wonder continue to this day.

As a local conservation charity, we rely on the support of our amazing visitors, members and volunteers.

You can become a part of the Poole's Cavern story, and help us care for a cavern rich in history, by doing one or all of the following:

The season has definitely started to change here at Poole's Cavern! 🌧️ The leaves are turning orange, and the rain has shown its face again, reminding us that we're truly out of summer now! ☀️

Our gift shop stock is also changing 👀 We've just launched a new range of soft, cuddly toys, all with a more autumnal feel 🍂

We've got pumpkins 🎃, spiders 🕷️, and plenty of bats 🦇
All in varying shapes and sizes, there's a cuddly toy for all budgets (and ages!) ☺️

While you're here, why not also look out for some of the bats who have taken up residence in the cavern? 🦇 If you see one, let us know!

This Sunday is UNESCO International Day of Caves and Karst!

We're excited to be celebrating at Poole's Cavern with a fascinating display of cave science and conservation materials that you can view in the School Room on Sunday (free entry).

We're also delighted to be hosting local caver, Allan Berry, who is hosting a free talk inside the Cavern about the exciting project: "The Dig: In Search of Seventh Heaven". (Please note this event is now fully booked)
