The Giant's Causeway

The Giant's Causeway National Trust is a charity caring for Special Places, For Ever, For Everyone. Come and walk in the footsteps of Giants.

The unique geology of the Giant's Causeway makes it a UNESCO World Heritage site and Northern Ireland's most popular tourist attraction. Nearly 40,000 polygonal basalt columns packed closely together form a pathway of stepping stones stretching out to sea. The columns were formed by the cooling and shrinking of molten lava from a volcanic eruption over 60 million years ago. But the unique nature of the Causeway has fuelled the imagination of locals and visitors for centuries. Legend tells us the Giant Finn McCool created the Causeway as a challenge to his Scottish rival, Benandonner. POOCH PASSPORTS ARE BACK!💜

As part of the National Trust's Dogs Welcome project, in partnership with Forthglade Natural Pet Food, with the Pooch Passport, you and your furry companion can gather stamps by visiting various participating properties across Northern Ireland, England and Wales - a perfect way to mark your GIANT adventures!🫶

Collect so many stamps for the chance to receive some special treats AND, snap a pic of your four-legged bestie in our selfie frame in the Visitor Centre and tag us on social for the chance to feature on our channels!📸

Running until February 2027, set yourself the challenge to complete your Pooch Passport by visiting all our nearby participating properties⬇️

The 'ber' months have officially arrived🦉✨🤎

The seasons are changing, and so is our opening hours!

From today, Tuesday 1 September, we'll be operating under our autumn opening hours.

The Giant's Causeway Visitor Experience will open at 9am and close at 5pm. The last admission to the Visitor Centre is at 4pm.

To make the most of your visit and to avail of the best rates, pre-book your Visitor Experience tickets in advance via our official website⬇️
