Today, we were delighted to welcome Baroness Louise Casey of Blackstock to the newly opened Whitefield Live Well Centre to see first-hand how Bury is supporting residents to live well, stay connected and age well within their local communities.
During her visit, Baroness Casey met local residents, service users, community groups and partners to learn more about Bury's neighbourhood approach to helping people live healthier, happier and more connected lives. The visit also provides an opportunity to showcase the impact of our Live Well model, the Ageing in Place Programme, which helps people remain independent and connected as they grow older, and the vital contribution made by community, voluntary and faith organisations across the borough.
Joining the visit were Councillor Eamonn O'Brien, Leader of Bury Council and Chair of the Local Government Association, Councillor Tamoor Tariq, Cabinet member for Adult Care, Health and Service Reform, Lynne Ridsdale, Chief Executive of Bury Council, Helen Tomlinson, Chief Executive of Bury VCFA, and colleagues from health, social care, the NHS, the voluntary, community and faith sector, and the Bury Older People's Network.
They discussed the challenges and opportunities facing adult social care, the importance of supporting people to remain independent for longer, and how strong communities play a crucial role in helping people live well and age well.
Together, we are building stronger communities, supporting people to age well, and creating a borough where everyone can thrive.
