RAF Mildenhall Library RAF Mildenhall Library serves the RAFM community through book, DVD, and game lending. We are CLOSED on US Federal holidays & USAFE/Base Days.

You call it Fall, we call it Autumn, and a Harvest Festival is traditional in the UK at this time of year :) Whether you say potato or potato or po-TAY-to (we love Samwise Gamgee), if you like TOUCHING CUTE ANIMALS then you'll want to join us on Saturday 26th between 1pm and 3pm.
The full Ark Farm Petting Zoo contingent will be here; donkey, sheep, goats, all the little furry creatures, and probably the farm dog, too :)
We'll have some indoor crafting and a special scavenger hunt as well.

Reminder we will be CLOSED on FRIDAY the 4th for the USAFE Day and MONDAY the 7th for Labor Day.
WE ARE OPEN SATURDAY FROM 10AM to 5PM for all your weekend library needs :)
We're also open today until 7PM if you want to stock up on books, games (board or console), DVDs or anything else before you hopefully get a long weekend!

We have a few new monthly events we'll be starting soon (Crafts with Claudia, a casual Drawing Group, and a Brick Builders session) as well as our usual Fall and Winter shenanigans to get us through the darker months.
But it's also our planning time of year AND we have a new Events and Programs Technician starting soon. This makes it the PERFECT time to ask you guys about YOUR ideas. :)

Are there things you've seen at other libraries you'd like to see here? Have you had an inspiration? Is there something you've always wanted to try that you think is in the library's realm? LET US KNOW!

We can't guarantee we'll try everything (there are rules, there are finances, there can be the need for experts) but we love community ideas so please do tell us about them. You can be exact or vague, no need to have the perfect program already planned. Leave us a comment below, drop us an email, or if you want to stay VERY anonymous, you can throw a note through the front door book slot or in the book drop box out the back. Thank you to everyone who came out to our Dolly Parton Storytime today!
Special thanks to Miss Renate who donned the sparkly hat and read the story (Miss Julie was unable to make it today but will be back next week). Special shout-out to those who showed up booted and hatted to join in the fun :)
Storytime is Wednesdays at 11am *EXCEPT FOR THE 4TH WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH WHICH IS A TRAINING DAY*
So we'll be skipping the 23rd of September but will see you on the 9th, the 16th, and the 30th :)

We're back for STORYTIME tomorrow from 11am! Miss Julie - including her sparkly rhinestone cowboy hat - will be doing a special Dolly Parton tribute. The book will be Dolly's own "Coat of Many Colours" story, and the craft will be painting our own colourful coats. There will also be a snack. All young children are welcome! :)

We've been quiet lately due to some access issues, but we've been keeping up with the news - so we are part of the community very sad at the loss of one of the world's leading advocates for reading and literacy, the incomparable Dolly Parton.
Miss Julie will be doing a special Dolly edition of Storytime tomorrow (more on that later!)
The staff also enjoyed paging through one of the books we have: "Dolly Parton: Behind the Seams", a superb coffee-table style book with loads of information about Dolly's outfits over the years. It's written by her, so it has lots of reflection about the time in her life etc.
So of course we all picked out a few of our favourite outfits...

A reminder the library will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday 16th August, for the Squadron Proficiency & Contingency Readiness Day. There will be NO STORYTIME.
The staff computers currently have no internet access so if you have any questions that require a quick answer CAN YOU PLEASE PHONE US on 238-2352/01638 542352 as we are not able to monitor the gmail at the front desk as we would normally. Computer room internet access remains fine! Thank you! :)
