Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council is delighted to host a free public screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing at The Princess Theatre & Arts Centre, Princess Street, Burnham-on-Sea on Monday 6th July at 6.30pm.

Following the film, attendees will be invited to take part in a structured discussion, designed to support open, constructive conversation about the issues raised and what they may mean locally.

The briefing, introduced by Chris Packham CBE, sets out the implications of climate and nature breakdown for food security, public health, infrastructure, the economy and national security, alongside evidence-based actions that could reduce these risks.

The 50 minute film brings together leading scientists to present a clear picture of the challenges ahead, while creating space for local communities to consider what these issues may mean in their local area and how they can support their MP to call for stronger action.

Tickets for the Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge screening are free, but advance registration is required through the link below -

Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council Condemns Vandalism of Newly Installed Stoma Friendly Facilities.

Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council has expressed deep disappointment and concern following acts of vandalism at recently upgraded public toilet facilities, which had been made stoma friendly for the benefit of residents and visitors.
The improvements, introduced just days ago, were part of the Town Council’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and accessibility within the community. The updated facilities were designed to better support individuals living with a stoma, ensuring they can access safe, hygienic and dignified public amenities.
However, within just two days of the upgrades being completed, the facilities on the esplanade have been deliberately vandalised. This damage has not only caused inconvenience but has undermined efforts to create a more inclusive environment for those who rely on such essential provisions.
Councillor Mike Facey, Mayor of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge said “We are extremely disappointed that these newly improved stoma friendly facilities have been vandalised so soon after their installation. These upgrades were made to support members of our community who already face daily challenges and this behaviour is both thoughtless and unacceptable.”
The Town Council has completed the repairs and would urge members of the public to respect community facilities, as these acts of vandalism directly impact residents and visitors who depend on these services.
