After much discussion, the Town Council has reluctantly decided to remove the gazebo from Layston Court Gardens. It will be removed on Friday 22nd May.
The gazebo is in danger of becoming unstable mainly due to people climbing on the roof.
Once the gazebo is removed a decision will be made on a replacement for the space, it’s not clear at the moment what this replacement will be.

Buntingford Town Council precept 2026/2027

For 2026/27, the Town Council element of council tax for a Band D property will be £110.37 per year, an increase of £6.99 annually compared with 2025/26.

This follows a sustained period between 2015/16 and 2022/23 during which the Town Council maintained the precept without increase, followed by only slight increases in 2024/25 and 2025/26.

The adjustment this year will support an additional £10,000 provision for potential unforeseen costs associated with the Local Government Review, £15,000 towards a biennial Town Event, and £7,500 to support local nature recovery initiatives.

You may have noticed a new concrete base appear at Norfolk Road Playing Fields.

The Town Council is pleased to share that two outdoor table tennis tables will soon be installed at this location. We’re expecting delivery and installation to take place this week, so it won’t be long before they’re ready for everyone to enjoy.

Our litter pick on Saturday 21st March focused initially on Norfolk Road Playing Fields. Several councillors from the Amenities Committee and a willing band of volunteers were able to make a wide sweep of the area and extend well beyond our initial goal.

Sadly, litter is an ongoing issue for the town. It defaces our precious gardens and parks, detracting from what should be attractive areas for recreational activities.

Buntingford Town Council is enormously grateful to those who joined our community litter pick and will welcome anyone who wishes to join our next session.

Please keep an eye on our notice board and webpage for further updates.
