ROAD CLOSURE - Station Road
11 and 12 June 2026

The original traffic management plan was scheduled to take place last week, with one side of the road remaining open while traffic used the other side.

Unfortunately, the cones put in place by the contractor were removed, and vehicles continued to park on Station Road. As a result, the works could not be carried out safely as planned, causing delays to the programme.

To ensure the works can now be completed safely and efficiently, the contractor has been left with no option but to implement a full road closure.

We appreciate that this may cause inconvenience and thank residents and road users for their patience and understanding while these essential works are completed.

Update: 10.6.26

High Street and Fore Street Resurfacing

See the official notice and map below.

The Wales and west works on Cricketfield Lane will not be on the road anymore by the DCC start date on the 15th June. The diversion signs on Upper Stoneborough Lane will be used for DCC’s diversion for the overnight works instead.

Message from Devon Highways

Due to the major deterioration of Budleigh High Street and Fore Street contingency money has been made available to resurface the road under emergency works.

To be able to carry out these important works DCC will need to close the road 15th - 19th June (weather dependent) from 7pm – 7am. We will require any car owners that park there during this time to kindly move them so we can effectively deliver these works.

Further information about these closures can be found on Causeway one.network - Works reference:

Message from: Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service
Please see below details about our upcoming Community Conversations event:

Join our next online Community Conversation event on Friday 12 June at 12 noon about outdoor fire safety this summer. Full information and how to join is available on our website.

We’ll be sharing the insight and ideas behind our upcoming campaign, which focuses on reducing preventable garden fires linked to BBQs, fire pits and outdoor burning.

This session is an opportunity for residents, community groups, local organisations and partners to come together to discuss summer fire risks, share experiences and behaviours we commonly see during warmer weather, and help shape how we communicate safety messages across Devon and Somerset.

Most summer fires don’t start with danger - they start with distraction. We want to explore how we can encourage simple, realistic behaviour changes that help people stay safe while still enjoying summer outdoors.

We welcome your thoughts, feedback and ideas as part of the conversation.

☀️ Staying hydrated during the heat wave is so important!

Did you know there’s a FREE water refill station available on the outside of the Public Hall? 💧

Pop over with your reusable bottle and top up with fresh drinking water while you’re out and about.

Please check in on neighbours, older relatives, and anyone vulnerable during the hot weather too. Stay safe, stay cool, and drink plenty of water! 🌡️💙
