Today, Bude-Stratton Town Council is flying the Red Ensign from the Elizabeth Mast on Summerleaze Downs to mark Merchant Navy Day.

Merchant Navy Day is an opportunity to recognise the contribution and sacrifice of Merchant Navy seafarers, past and present, and the vital role they have played in times of both peace and conflict.

The Red Ensign, also known as the โ€˜Red Dusterโ€™, is the official flag of the UK Merchant Navy.

Heading to the beach with your dog? Some seasonal daytime restrictions in the Bude area remain in place until ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ ๐’๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ.

๐Ÿ• At ๐’๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐ณ๐ž, dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead between 10am and 6pm.
๐Ÿšซ At ๐‚๐ซ๐จ๐จ๐ค๐ฅ๐ž๐ญ๐ฌ, dogs are not permitted between 10am and 6pm.

Bude's volunteer lifeboat crew are there when they're needed, heading out to sea to help others in all kinds of conditions.

Today is a chance for the community to get behind them, with Bude Lifeboat Day raising vital funds to support the work of the RNLI. ๐Ÿ’™
