Warkah & Sejarah : Gabenor British di Singapura kepada Sultan Zainal Abidin III – 10 Julai 1909.

To the Sultan of Trengganu,

Government House,
10th July 1909.

(After Compliments).

Wa-baada-hu kemudian daripada itu ahual beta maaklumkan maka ada-lah pada masa beta bertemu dengan seri paduka sahabat beta di-Singapura, beta telah maklumkan hal Treaty yang sedang di becharakan di –antara Raja Benua Inggris dengan Raja Benua Siam, yang berkenaan dengan Negri-negri Melayu yang di-dalam Semenanjong Tanah Malayu itu.

Maka sekarang Treaty itu telah di-tetapkan di-dalam bandar London pada 9 haribulan ini (1909), dan ada-lah Raja Benua Siam itu tengah hendak menghantar dua pegawai-nya bernama Phya Rajvinichai dan Luang Sansarakitch akan menyatakan kapada seri paduka sahabat beta bahawa iya telah menyerahkan kapada Raja Benua Inggris mana-mana haknya yang berkenaan dengan Negri Trengganu.

Maka Pegawai yang membawa surat ini, Tuan William Lance Conlay dan iya-lah pegawai yang telah di pilih uleh Raja Benua Inggris akan memaalumkan kapada pegawai-pegawai Siam itu di-hadapan Seri Paduka sahabat beta bahawa Raja Benua Inggris itu menerima mana-mana haknya yang di-tukarkan oleh Raja Benua Siam itu kepada-nya, dan jua telah di-pilih-nya akan Tuan Conlay itu akan dudok di-dalam negri seri paduka sahabat beta menjaga ra’yat Inggris yang masok Negri Trengganu ; dan-lagi iya-lah, seperti yang telah beta katakan kepada seri paduka sahabat beta, menjadi sa orang tempat pegawai-pengawai Inggris yang di-dalam Pahang dan Kelantan atau lain-lain Negri Melayu berkirim surat di-atas hal ahual yang berbangkit di-antara negri-negri itu dengan Trengganu dan iya-lah akan meletakkan hal ahual itu di-hadapan seri paduka sahabat beta.

Maka harap-lah beta akan seri paduka sahabat beta menerima Tuan Conlay itu dengan kesukaan dan membuatkan iya sahabat serta bersunggoh-sunggoh menjadikan astrahat iya diam di-dalam Negri Trengganu.

Maka ada-lah beta akan pergi melawat Raja Kelantan di-dalam sa-hari dua ini dan beta harap handak bertemu seri paduka sahabat beta pada 24 haribulan ini ya-itu pada masa beta kembali dari Kelantan.

Tiada-lah lain hanya di-iring-i dengan berbanyak-banyak tabik jua, ada-nya.

Salinan terjemahan warkah kiriman Sir John Anderson dari bahasa Inggeris di kekalkan dalam versi lama bahasa melayu klasik.

Ulasan

Gabenor British di Singapura, Sir John Anderson mengutuskan warkah kepada Sultan Zainal Abidin III memaklumkan penyerahan Negri Trengganu dari naungan Kerajaan Siam kepada British selepas temeterai Perjanjian Bangkok (Anglo-Siamese Treaty) pada 10 Mac 1909 dengan penempatan William Lance Conlay selaku agennya.

19 sehingga 24 Julai 1909, Sir John Anderson (Governor at Singapore) , Mejar General Perott (General Officer Commanding) dan Sir W.T.Taylor (Resident General) mengadakan lawatan ke Kelantan dan Trengganu sebagaimana di laporkan dalam akhbar The Times pada 19 Julai 1909.

Ross had never considered a career in the equine industry, but when he saw a Liveried Helper role advertised on the Royal Household website, he knew it was too good an opportunity to miss.

"I have always had horses at home and ridden all my life, but I'd never thought about working with horses full time before. I also wanted to be in London, so the chance to work with horses here was brilliant. "

Working in the Royal Mews, Ross cares for some of the most photographed horses in the world. However, as with any role working with horses, the average day comes with a very precise routine.

"My day starts at 5.30am or 6am. We have two horses to look after, and so I muck them out and get them tacked up, before their morning exercises at 6:50am and 9:30am. The rest of the day is normally spent cleaning kit, equipment and horses, and then preparing them for the night."

But, as Ross explains, other aspects of the role are far from average.

There are lots of opportunities to do things I would not have been able to do elsewhere, such as riding out for official occasions. This includes collecting new ambassadors to present their credentials to The Queen, Royal Ascot processions, Trooping of the Colour, and State Visits. It's very rewarding getting the horses looking their best on the day, and seeing the results of all my hard work and preparation." It's a new career path for Ross, but since starting he has been given all the support he needs, learning new skills along the way.

"I am enjoying learning how to drive horses, which I have never done before. I chose the job because I was keen to learn something new, and although I have been here for over a year, I still have lots to learn and work towards".

And finally, Ross was able to give a real insight into the sense of teamwork that is commonplace working for the Royal Household.

"There is a huge sense of community at the Royal Mews. There is a big team here, not just those working directly with the horses, but we all work towards the same goals. Working and living together means that we all get on, and there is a good social scene outside of work too."..Queen Elizabeth.HM Rosmawe ®️
