The government announced yesterday that plans for local government reorganisation in Devon will be paused subject to a review.
This decision follows updated legal advice and will also consider whether the proposals align with the priorities of the new government.
Buckfastleigh Town Council does not know how this will impact our community or our decision to assume responsibility for some Teignbridge District Council owned assets within the parish. We await further information and clarity and acknowledge the significant amount of impact this has had on our principle authority colleagues who have already invested a huge amount of time and resources.

"We have been flushing our pipes to remove air and discolouration which is only temporary and does not affect water quality. Some customers may notice discolouration to their supply which is normally short lived following a burst or repairs to our network and is fine to drink.

A further update directly from the Public Affairs Manager at South West Water. Although repairs have now been completed:

A small number of customers may still be experiencing low pressure or a temporary loss of supply, but this is normal following this type of situation due to trapped air in the pipes. We would like to reassure our customers that this is only temporary and does not affect water quality.

Some customers may notice discolouration to their supply which is normally short lived following a burst or repairs to our network and is fine to drink.

If you, or someone in your house, has a medical condition that requires constant access to a water supply, or you would find it difficult to reach an alternative supply during a mains interruption, then sign up to South West Waters Priority Services Register. Their Priority Services are free, and you don't need to be the bill payer to register.

The issue is at the Water Treatment Works. They are on site working to fix the issue.

Applications for our Electrical Safety Fund are now open, with £1 million available to support projects which protect people from electrical harm.
Eligible organisations can apply for grants of up to £10,000 to deliver projects that:

Improve electrical safety education
Remove, repair or replace unsafe electrical products
Address electrical installation safety issues
Raise awareness of electrical safety risks and how people can stay safe

The Fund is designed to support organisations working with people who may be at greater risk of electrical harm, including those affected by the cost of living, rising energy costs, poor housing, age, disability, or other factors that increase vulnerability.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to:

Charities
Public bodies, such as Fire and Rescue Services or Trading Standards
Other registered not-for-profit organisations

Projects should primarily benefit individuals and communities particularly vulnerable to electrical risk and injury.
