Summer is very much here, and so is your annual Somerset Libraries Reading Challenge.

Over the summer, pop in and see us at Bruton Community Library, sign your children up for the Challenge or Mini Challenge, and get reading. All reading and listening counts, they can have fun collecting stickers along the way and complete it by 12th September for a certificate and badge, which we will present in assembly. We are visiting Bruton Primary School today to launch this idea with all of the children, so do pop in and sign up. Don't worry if you are not a library member, we will just sign you up for free, and away you go! Happy Reading everyone.

🥳 The Summer Reading Challenge starts today at all Somerset Libraries! 🥳

Register your child at your local library – all they have to do is read any six books of their choice over the summer holidays. They will receive a free poster pack for registering, then they can collect stickers for each book they read. When they have read all six books, they will get a badge and a certificate!

There is also a Mini Challenge this year for children aged 4 and under, and they will have their own unique stickers to collect!

Visit www.somerset.gov.uk/libraries/our-libraries/ to find your nearest library and its opening times.

One last push for GCSE Revision this week. We were only doing two sessions, but we are back by popular demand! I have said that we can run an English only (as we only have an English teacher volunteer) revision session drop-in tomorrow (Saturday 9th) for those last minute panics over English Language and English Literature. If you have a teen in a tizz about Shakespeare or Dickens or dreading any aspect of English exams we may be able to help tomorrow between 10.30am and 12.30pm in Bruton Community Library.

Last GCSE drop-in session at Bruton Community Library today between 10.30am and 12.30pm. Please bring along your exam papers or notes from subjects you need support with and our volunteer teachers will do their best to help. We can also support with general advice and queries about study techniques and managing your time or exam anxiety.

GCSE Drop-in revision sessions will run in Bruton Library from 10.30am until 12.30pm on Saturday, 25th April and Saturday 2nd May. They will be on a drop-in basis so no need to commit now. Each session will have teachers of English, Maths and Science in for the two hours. We provide refreshments and a nice calm atmosphere to help students to revise. We would encourage students to turn up with their revision or past papers they are working through, and our lovely experts who have volunteered their time will help work though tricky topics or techniques.

Last year students helped each other, used the time to work through problems with teachers and also just used it as a time to focus quietly on revision for a couple of hours.

Do encourage your teens to come along and maybe it will help focus the mind and help them lower exam stress and worries.
