Brownhills Ormiston Academy

Brownhills Ormiston Academy Brownhills Ormiston Academy sits on the Staffordshire-Walsall border. Our values of ready, respect and safe underpin everything we do.

Our students leave us with the skills, attributes and academic qualifications to enjoy a life of choice and opportunity. We are exceptionally proud of our school and our community. At Brownhills, we have a clear and unwavering mission: we know that every student who walks through our doors has only one chance at their education. One single, precious opportunity to build the foundations to enjoy a life filled with choice and opportunity. We understand that the five years at secondary school are not just a phase, but a defining chapter in a child’s story, one that will shape their futures in ways that you cannot imagine yet. Our commitment is simple but powerful. We will work tirelessly to create an environment where every student feels safe, valued, and inspired to push beyond their limits. There are no limits for a Brownhills student who chooses to work hard. Our three values are the drivers for the work of our school: ready, respect and safe. They are embedded in our culture of learning and the behaviours of our academy community. Our broad and ambitious curriculum enables students to acquire and retain the knowledge and skills required to meet their full academic potential and to be prepared for post-16 pathways. We offer a wide range of subjects that will give our students rich experiences at school. We are a school that is very well known for our sports, music and drama. Beyond our ambitious curriculum, our students have access to a range of wider opportunities, competitions, events, trips, and clubs. Our students must and will leave us with skills, attributes and academic qualifications to enable them to enjoy a life of choice and opportunity. Visitors often comment on the warm and friendly atmosphere in the school and the buzz of activity that greets them. Prospective students and their families are welcome to contact the academy to arrange a visit during or after the school day. Our Headteacher, Mr Doodson, is very clear with his message to our community: you have one chance at your education, and we all have to work together to make it count.

🖊️ YEAR 9 RE - STUDENTS THINKING HARD TO DISCUSS AND DEBATE SOME BIG QUESTIONS

🖊️ These brilliant Year 9 students have made every moment count already this morning! Students were discussing evil and suffering in their RE lesson and they had some fascinating and insightful ideas about this very challenging subject.

🖊️ Students were looking at the difference between natural and moral evil, considering a number of different scenarios from history. They used Mini-Whiteboard to prepare their own arguments about suffering which led to a Turn & Talk exercise to discuss and refine their ideas.

🖊️ Excellent start to the day Year 9. Your answers were so thoughtful, diligent and you crafted some outstanding arguments in response to a very challenging task!

🌟 HOLY TRINITY C OF E PRIMARY SCHOOL ALUMNI - STARTING LIFE AT BROWNHILLS ORMISTON ACADEMY

🌟 Today we caught up with Ellie, Joshua, Amber and Alistair to hear all about their start to life at Brownhills. They have all come from Holy Trinity C of E Primary School, just round the corner from us. We love working with Mrs Rea-Gardner and the team at Holy Trinity and it's clear their students loved their time there too!

🌟 They have made a brilliant start to BOA and they spoke to us about their highlights so far and how grateful they were to the team at Holy Trinity for setting them up so perfectly for this next phase of their journey.

🌟 Thank you Team Holy Trinity CofE Primary School and well done to your alumni for making such a superb first impression!

📖 DROP EVERYTHING AND READ - KS3 DEAR STARTS THIS WEDNESDAY!

📚 Make sure you have your reading books with you for Wednesday, for the beginning for DEAR! 10-minutes, once-a-week, where all of KS3 stop what they’re doing in lessons and read - we love it!

📖 If you need a new book before Wednesday, make sure you go to the Library at lunchtime tomorrow to get a new book.

❤️ YEAR 7 COMPLETE THEIR FIRST BROWNHILLS MILE TO FINISH THEIR FIRST WEEK AT OUR GREAT SCHOOL

💙 After two very busy days of induction, Year 7 finished their week with the Brownhills mile round our brilliant school field.

❤️ Sport and exercise are incredibly important to us at Brownhills and this gave Year 7 chance to see some of the cross-country course for our first house event in a few weeks’ time!

💙 It was lovely to see students with new friends and old friends, talking about what they’ve learned this week and getting excited for the journey they have embarked on at our great school.
