Bromyard Fire Station

Bromyard Fire Station Welcome to Bromyard Fire Station. Part of Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, we are proud to provide on-call response to 999 emergencies.

Bromyard Fire Station is manned by PAID members of the community who are on call and respond from a pager when a 999 call comes in. These men and women do exactly the same job as a full time fire fighter but instead of being based on a station, they live or work in the area and are available at mutually convenient times (not 24/7) to keep our appliances "on the run". We're always looking for new m

embers of the team so do pop down on a Thursday evening for an informal chat if you're interested. You could earn £4,000 - £8,000 extra per year just for being on call (depending upon how many hours cover you can offer us). That's a new car, a mortgage deposit or a holiday. Or just the difference between staying in the area or having to look for work elsewhere. You don't need to be UBER fit and strong, but you will need to pass a physical test and you'll need to have a basic maths and english understanding but as long as you're over 18 - we'd love to hear from you. Visit the website for more information or come along and meet the team on a Thursday at the Fire Station. Please do NOT message this page if you need to report an emergency. Dial 999 and ask for the fire service.

🥳 Happy 21st Birthday to this little weirdo 🥳
Like most youngsters he ended up celebrating his birthday early (yesterday) by having a brush with the emergency services after getting into a rather sticky situation 😬
Thanks to the amazing work of Ewyas Harold Fire Station, Bromyard Fire Station and the Animal Rescue Team he has walked away with just bruising and a few aches. He was back to his normal cheeky self within a few hours 💖Their patience, knowledge and communication skills made a very stressful situation so much easier. We are eternally grateful for their help 🙏
Yet again thank you for the ever calming presence of Kharon Nakielny who had yet again been an amazing help in one of our equine dramas!
🥳 HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREMLIN 🥳

On Sunday afternoon 22/2/26 Crews from Wyre Forest Fire Station , Worcester Fire Station SRT /Boat crew and Bromyard Fire Station's Large Animal Rescue team, were called to rescue a horse called Mitchell that had got into the River Stour after slipping down the embankment he was unable to get himself out.

The owner had already called for a vet from Connaught House.
On arrival of the first crew they found Mitchell in fairly deep fast flowing water but stood on the side of the river. When Carrie the vet arrived we discussed a rescue plan it wasn't possible to walk or swim him to safety so we agreed the safest way was to lift Mitchell to safety from his current position. To do this we needed the help of a local farmer with a tele handler, which the owner was able to arrange. Before we could lift Mitchell out he was going to need to be sedated and the SRT sled was used to get Carrie into position so that she could administer this via IV injection.
We were able to get the strops around Mitchell and as soon as the sedation was administered and taken effect he was quickly lifted out of the water and carried across the field to a safe place where he was assisted to stand, he was covered in some rugs to keep him warm, after about 30 minutes he was able to walk back to his stable.

Where Carrie carried out a full assessment of him, plus she visited again the following morning and she confirmed that he was in good health and back to his normal self.

Thanks to everyone that took ok art in this challenging rescue, we achieved a brilliant result as a team

Large Animal Rescue Team from Bromyard Fire Station out this morning working alongside our colleagues from Wyre Forest Fire Station we were called to rescue Ruby, a 17hh -800kg Belgian draught, Ruby had got through the electrical fencing and into a Bog , and was unable to get out, the owner had called for a local farmer to come with his Teleporter and a Vet from Severn Edge Equine Vets on arrival the Fire crew found Ruby up to her neck in the bog , straw was placed in front her and pushed down to try and give her something to stand on and hopefully get out , she was already very tired and wasn't able to,
A plan was put in place to lift her out of the bog it wasn't easy to get the strops around her body for the lift but after sometime the crews were successful, once the front and rear strops were in place and spills harness fitted front and rear, Georgie the vet sedated Ruby to keep her calm during the lifting process, she was lifted clear of the bog and carried to a place of safety, she was allowed to stand in the lifting harness for a time to find her legs again, the harness was released and she was walked back to her stable where Georgie could give her a thorough health check, she confirmed that she was uninjured and in good health and will be fine after a good rest
Thanks to everyone that was involved in this rescue, Team work at its best delivering a brilliant result for Ruby

Large Animal Rescue Team from Bromyard, working alongside our colleagues from Pershore fire station on Friday afternoon we were called to rescue another horse that had got into Bow Brook this is the second in Bow Brook in 9 days..a Vet and local farmer were on scene to assist with the rescue , with the use of a Telehandler the horse was lifted to safety and was able to walk back to his stable, he was rescued without injuries,
With the long spell of dry weather and very little rain this has reduced the amount of green grass that's available in the field , and the animals are finding that green undergrowth near to the waters edge irresistible

Yesterday afternoon Animal Rescue Team and crew from Evesham Fire Station were called to reports of a deer that was in distress in slurry lagoon, 2 members of the public had come across it while out walking , the crew were met by members of Vale Wildlife Hospital And Rehabilitation Centre. A young Roe deer had slipped down the side into the lagoon and was unable to get out , luckily the lagoon has been emptied and contained mainly rain water , but still a bit smelly in there , crews wearing WFR (Water first responder) PPE and 9 meter ladder plus a roof ladder got down to the water edge , at first the deer ran too the far side of the lagoon but as crews made they way along the side the deer seemed very happy to see the rescuers and ran straight to one of them who was then able to carry it to safety, it was wrapped up in blanks and taken back to the hospital for a complete checkup, its believed that it was rescued with no injuries and should make a full recovery

The Large Animal Rescue team from Bromyard, working alongside our colleagues from Pershore Fire Station, were called out yesterday morning to rescue a horse that had slipped down an embankment into a very wet, boggy ditch. Due to the steep sides, the horse was unable to get himself out.

The owner called called Cheltenham Equine Vets to assess the horse before we could carry out the rescue jointly a plan was put in place, Before this could take place, the vet sedated the horse, which helped to calm him down and enable us to help him.

Crews wearing WFR (Water First Responder) PPE were then able to get into the water and position lifting strops around the horse. Using a local farmer’s telehandler, we slid him onto our large rescue board before pulling him clear of the water.

After a very short rest, he was able to get to his feet and walk back to his stable, where the vet gave him a thorough check-over.
