Sarah Jones: Hi, I know that previously a talk was done at St Andrews Church about the history of Charford, I was wondering if there is anybody on here with any information or old photos about the history of Charford? Would the library have information in there archives? I started a residents group in February and was just looking for some info on the old Charford! Thank you in advance šŸ¤žšŸ»

Heather Smith: Does anybody remember the name of the cake shop and cafe that became 3 Cooks ? I had a Saturday job there 47 years ago. It sold Wimbush bread etc but had another name - the other Wimbush was on the same side of the street but lower down past Woolworths.

Dan Price: Hi. I have a question relating to the All Saints Church. I have a pic of my grandparents walking up to the church from the main gate way and to the left of the covered gateway you can just make out a building I think it says ' Something Sales Garage' does anyone know what the full name was...this was 1954.... So it be the old vauxhall garage..... But what was the full name for the pic...

Also random question.i have pic of my grandfather outside a building with 9 other men dressed smartly.... Now the building is called Endsleigh Hotel....I looked for this building and the only nearest I come to is Endsleigh gardens London but not sure if this correct.. this photo would prob be early 60s.. could be a works do or similar.... But has anyone heard of this building and where it's located ??

Much appreciated on any help

Robert Davies: This photograph would be difficult to reciprocate today. It was taken on the south bound slip road to the M5 at junction 5 Wychbold, probably around 1964/5 ish. Back in the day there was only two slip roads north or south, motorist joined or left via one entrance or exit. These two minis are leaving the M5 on the south bound slip road. I was not the photographer, however I was part of the printing team producing a 2 metre print for an exhibition somewhere in the UK during my early days at Baileys.
Thanks Robert šŸ™‚

Tom Mo: Hi there, unsure if you can help me or signpost me to somewhere that can. I live on Howard Avenue and I’m looking for images of the rear of the property before the new houses were built on Crabtree lane and Willow Road. I have been here for almost 6 years and just curious to find out what it originally looked like, many thanks

Many Bromsgrove folk may remember Bob Crashley, of Barley Mow Lane, Catshill, who passed away peacefully in hospital on 8th February 2025, aged 95.

Bob was best known for working within the Bromsgrove health community for many years, as a hospital driver, then a porter at Bromsgrove General Hospital, going on to become Head Porter.
He was originally from Louth, Lincolnshire, moving to Bromsgrove some time after WWII.

In his earlier life, Bob worked on the railway during the steam era at the Bromsgrove Motive Power Depot as a fireman. He worked on the footplate of, amongst others, the Lickey Banker. Known locally as "Big Bertha", this massive steam engine was one of a kind, built especially to provide banking assistance to trains travelling up the Lickey Incline, the long, steep mainline gradient.

Bob was married to Irene, former Practice Manager at New Road Surgery. He will be greatly missed by Irene and all his family and friends.

The funeral will take place on 4th March, 3pm, at Waseley Hills Crematorium.

Any donations to charity in memory of Bob will be gratefully received, and can be made at the funeral or by visiting his Much Loved Tribute Page:
