Going through some old files, I came across a letter from Scotland with some enclosed postcards. The postcards had been sent from Brockenhurst to her family in Fife by a relative serving in the Royal Flying Corps. (He was sadly killed in 1918.) Just look at Rhinefield Road and Ornamental Drive, just over a hundred years ago!

Just in case you've been swept up in fake elections news. We can confirm that there are no elections in Brockenhurst until next year (2027) and the Parish Council is non-party political. Thank you.

Engineering Work – May 2026 affecting SWR main routes.

Sunday 10th. May
Buses replace trains between Woking and Wi******er via Basingstoke. Buses replace trains between Basingstoke and Andover. Buses replace trains between Basingstoke and Andover.
Cross Country services will operate via Guildford and journey times to Reading will be extended by one hour. Cross Country will run a dedicated coach service between Reading and Wi******er via Basingstoke. SWR services between Bournemouth/ Brockenhurst/ Southampton will run via Fareham, Havant and Guildford to Woking and then to Waterloo. Allow up to an hour extra.

Saturday 16th. May and Sunday 17th May.
Buses replace trains between Woking and Guildford.

Sunday 17th. May in addition to above.
Buses replace trains Andover and Gillingham. Buses replace trains between Salisbury and Romsey. Buses replace trains between Salisbury and Warminster.

Saturday 23rd. May and Sunday 24th. May.
Buses replace trains between Woking and Guildford.

Monday 25th. May until Friday 29th. May inclusive.
Buses will replace trains between Fareham and Portsmouth Harbour. Buses will replace trains between Havant and Portsmouth Harbour. (The total closure is for bridge strengthening to take place at Portcreek, track relaying and work on Fratton Station footbridge.)

(Note. The passenger lifts at Southampton Central are out of order until 28th. August.)

Is this your front door (see photo)?
DHL have delivered our poppy wreaths to you in error (7/4/26). These were ordered for Anzac Day, on Sunday 26 April. We'd really like to have them please, as they will be used to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps buried in St Nicholas churchyard, Brockenhurst.
