Snowshill Manor and Garden NT Snowshill is the unconventional home of the eccentric Charles Wade, who delighted in creating a stage for his collection. It helps us to learn and grow.

Welcome to the official page for Snowshill Manor and Garden, home to the eclectic collection of Charles Paget Wade, cared for by the National Trust.

It's Great Big Green Week and we wanted to highlight the impact of our new, green addition to the gardens - our electric buggy!

The buggy has been running every day since March and had a big impact at Snowshill by:
🌱 Reducing our environmental impact
♿ Improving accessibility (including space for wheelchair stowage)
🔇 Creating a quieter, more peaceful experience for visitors

And it’s not just people… our resident badgers are big fans to as the route passes right by their set, now without the noise of a petrol engine 🦡

Proof a small change can make a big difference. A big thank you goes to our incredible volunteer buggy drivers 💚

'Charles Wade wasn’t your average Victorian Collector’

If you watched Hidden Treasures of the National Trust last Friday, you would have seen the team talk about Charles Paget Wade’s collection and what motivated him to collect and create over 22,000 items.

Born in 1883, Wade devoted his life to rescuing everyday objects that he believed were disappearing from the modern world. He created his own coat of arms which bore the motto ‘let nothing perish’ which gives an insight in how he collected.

Visitors can take in the size and scale of Wade’s collection in the Manor House and gardens which he brought in 1919 to be the home and stage of his creativity.

Snowshill is open every day from 11am – 5.30pm, last admission to the Manor House at 3.30pm.

What a difference a month makes!

Our wildflower orchard is flourishing in the May sunshine and is currently awash with Cow Parsley & Red Campion.

A lot of work goes into creating a wildflower orchard and this project has taken Head Gardener Vicky & Assistant Gardener James, over a decade of encouragement and management. The Ox Eye Daisies have just started to flower along with Orchids which will be closely followed by Cranesbill. Then towards the end of June we'll start to see Knapweed and Field Scabious.

Swipe to see the meadow at the beginning of May and stay tuned to see how the meadow progresses throughout the year
