hank you to Laura Marsh, a distant relative of local hero J. G. Marsh, for visiting our Heritage Open Day yesterday here at Pierremont Hall.

J. G. Marsh was the proprietor of the bathing machines which were an important part of the tourist activity on Broadstairs Main Bay in the early 20th century. He sadly passed away in an act of heroism trying to save a tourist from the sea. His story, among others, is on display at Pierremont Hall for Heritage Week, every day from the 11th to the 17th September, 9 am to 1 pm.

Photo of Laura Marsh with Bryan Jones, Broadstairs and St Peter's newly appointed Town Crier. This event is brough to you by Broadstairs & St Peter's Town Council.

Rain could not dampen the spirits at the grand finale of the Broadstairs & St. Peter’s Town Council’s Summer Theatre in The Park.

The audience enjoyed a night at Grandma’s Shop, a true, heart-warming story about an eccentric shopkeeper who worked to feed thirty stray cats. When a Guardian journalist walked through her doors, her life changed forever. Thirty-five years later, her granddaughter revisited those cherished childhood memories while researching her family roots.

Filled with laughter and local charm, the evening was a wonderful success and perfect ending to our annual Summer Theatre programme.
