We have plenty of sheltered areas for when it’s wet and we put up extra tarps. We run throughout the whole year and only cancel sessions in extreme weather conditions ( ie: constant gale force 8), we’ll always put a post on our page if we need to cancel.

Sometimes change can be daunting and make us feel a little uneasy or unsteady. But just remember there’s a lot of changes going on all around us, and all for the better- From tadpoles developing into frogs, from caterpillars developing into butterflies, from strawberry plant saplings developing to produce strawberries, radish seeds growing to produce radishes, and from a mere elderflower bush which produces flowers we can use to produce elderflower cordial!
All these changes are happening right under our noses, and are what we’ve been focusing on at Orchard Forest School over the last few weeks.
So when you’re facing a bit of a daunting change, remember about all these changes going on in nature, and how these changes tend to work out for the better! 💚

Whether it was undertaking gardening tasks, helping with crafts at our Intergenerational Childminders session, sorting wool, weaving nature fences, checking on the wildlife, working on our carpark extension or keeping the fire roaring for lunch, our Wednesday Warriors were certainly kept busy this Wednesday!
This is the beauty of this group, there’s something for everyone to get involved with, regardless of our age and regardless of the ability of what our bodies allow us to do! Everything these guys do is so appreciated by us!
Thank you to everyone for all your continued help and support at Orchard Forest School. 💚

Sharing our space with our local community at Orchard Forest School is what we do best! We love reaching out and welcoming new friends and colleagues into the orchard, so they can experience new things, make new discoveries and have some time and the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature. This week we welcomed a new group of friends into the orchard to do a bit of foraging, to learn how to make Elderflower cordial, discover how to use flora in clay and of course to enjoy a nice hot cuppa and chat! ☕️
Thank you to everyone who joined us this week, we’ll look forward to welcoming everyone back in the near future!💚

Isn’t it great when the community work together, regardless of age, to share and promote learning and understanding for our children?
Our wonderful Monday volunteer Rob, donated some of his home grown pea plants for our Mini Explorers to plant. So with help and guidance from our wonderful Sue, these were planted in our growing area yesterday.
Three generations bought together through pea plants! That’s what we call a great example of Intergenerational working at Orchard Forest School 💚
We can’t wait to try the peas! 🫛 🫛🫛🫛🫛🫛🫛🫛🫛🫛

From hundreds of parts laid out on your kitchen floor, to a resource that our young explorers have absolutely immersed themselves in all week! A huge thank you to the guys from English Riviera Bike Night CIC for funding this new play resource, and to our fab Mr Loram (AKA Lou’s hubby) for having the patience (and skills) to build it!!!🤣
A big thank you from us, but most of all from all of our young explorers who have discovered it this week in the orchard! 💦 And the added beauty of this piece, is it teaches children how to problem solve and negotiate through recycling water! ♻️👍🏼💦

It’s been all about bees, froglets, butterfly cocoons and gardening with Sue today with our Mini Explorers at Orchard Forest School.
Theres always such a hive of activity on Thursdays!
Our Mini Explorers certainly know how to make the most of the orchard, as do the bees! 🐝🌸🌼🌱
Thank you to Pat for all your help today, and to Sue who is back from her holiday in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and brought us all a Scottish shortbread cow to enjoy! 🐮 yum! 😋

And there we have it, our June Intergenerational Childminder session has flown by, just like the busy bees we’ve been learning about in the orchard! 🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
Today all our little explorers were keen to try out the new water play equipment, go on a ‘froglet hunt,’ 🐸 create some pinecone bees, some elder necklaces and try some honey! 🍯 🐝
What a busy session!
Thank you to all the wonderful Childminders who bring their early years children to Orchard Forest School each month for these special Intergenerational sessions, and to all our wonderful volunteers who help and join in with all the fun and crafts! What a great way to spend a Wednesday morning, everyone together, regardless of age, and regardless of the weather! 🌦️
We’ll look forward to our last session this side of the summer, on 8th July. 🌳
