ποΈ CIL Funding Update for Frome Vale!
This year I'm delighted to share the results of our Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding round and what a year it's been!
When I was out visiting community organisations across Frome Vale, I kept hearing the same thing: brilliant ideas, real needs, but no funding to make them happen. So I made a point of encouraging community groups and initiatives to apply and the response was incredible. We went from just two applications last year to ten this year! A sign of just how much energy and ambition there is in this ward.
Alongside Cllr Louis Martin, Frome Vale Labour Councillor, I've worked hard to spread the funding across Frome Vale, focusing on the priorities we know matter most here: education and training, youth provision and the environment.
I'm thrilled to congratulate our four successful CIL applicants who will move onto stage 2 which will be decided in December.
π Oldbury Court Out Of School Clubs
Has applied for a brand new renovated basketball court for young people in the ward after their old one deteriorated.
π± College Road Allotments
Has applied for a community garden and smallholding with goats and chickens on a previously disused plot.
π₯¦ Grow Wilder
Has applied for adult educational classes teaching residents how to grow their own food.
πΏ Vassall Community Hub
Has applied for funding towards their community garden.
And separately, great news for residents on Radley Road, funding has been secured for much-needed traffic calming measures you all (nearly the entire street!) requested.
To the six other applicants who put forward such strong ideas, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It was a genuinely difficult process and every submission showed real community spirit and passion. I'll be working to find alternative funding streams for those projects and I hope to see them reapply in the 2027 and 2028 CIL rounds.
Another community win for Frome Vale. More to come. π
