Everyone welcome at the first-ever FAB Evening Social by our Friends Ageing Better team.

Just like a FAB Café, this is a great opportunity to meet with like-minded people, over a cup of coffee or a drink.

We will be meeting on Wednesday 26th August from 5.30pm - 7.30pm at the Cafe Bar at Watershed. We will have a couple reserved tables at the rear of the bar.

Anyone who has been the victim of a scam knows how upsetting and concerning it can be. Here are Age UK’s top 5 steps to reduce the risk of being scammed:

STOP – Never do anything you don’t want to, and don't make any decisions on the spot
CHECK – Always check people's credentials, especially tradespeople. Ask for proof of ID, trade accreditations, and always ensure quotes and contracts are in writing
ASK – Always ask someone you trust for a second opinion
MINE – Do not give away your personal information
SHARE – Share your experience with others to lower their risk of being scammed

We'll be at the St Werburghs Community Centre tomorrow afternoon for their Summer Festival. We'll be running a fun knitting and crochet workshop in aid of our Big Knit Campaign! If you're a local knitter or crocheter or maybe looking to learn, come and say hello!

We’re delighted to be supporting Robins Community Foundation to deliver REACT (Retirement in Action) at Imperial Sports Ground from this September!

Funded through the Vivensa Foundation, with additional funding from the BNSSG ICB, Age UK Bristol is leading the development of Strength & Balance provision across Bristol.

REACT is an evidence-based programme supporting adults aged 60+ who are beginning to notice changes in their mobility, strength, balance or confidence – helping them stay active, independent and connected.

A fantastic example of local organisations working together to help older people stay active and independent for longer. 💚
