Did you know? 1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣
Using maths language in everyday conversations with your 3-4-year old helps create a mathematician! Research shows that the more maths language a child hears, the higher their levels of mathematical ability.

Activity: Have fun using lots of β€˜maths’ language in real life situations about real things – in the car, at meals, painting a picture, e.g. β€œYour paint brushes are long and short!”

Use a mixture of number words and concepts: | one – two – three, all the way up to 20 and beyond! | before – after | up – down | same – different | big(ger) – small(er) | long – short | more – less | circle – triangle – square – rectangle – star | line – curve – slope – arch | pyramid – cube – cylinder |

At St John's Mead Nursery we are committed to ensuring that your child is still learning as much as possible during the COVID19 outbreak and we will do our absolute best to keep this happening. We will keep in communication with parents through their tapestry accounts and on the school's main webpage with information and activities you can try at home.

It is important to remember that the Early Years curriculum is taught through play and the time your children spend with family, playing with you, helping with chores, sharing stories, is so valuable and will be something they will always remember.

We are looking into finding a way that the children can see what each other are doing through Tapestry so please ensure you log on regularly. If you are having trouble logging on please email us as we may not be able to monitor Facebook at this time.

Our bedtime story evening will be taking place on World Book Day, Thursday 5th March, starting at 5.30. Children are invited to wear their PJs and bring a favourite teddy. They will have the opportunity to share some bedtime stories with a cup of hot chocolate and biscuit while parents have the opportunity to attend our reading workshop. We hope to see you all there.

Please also remember it is half term next week so tomorrow (Friday) is our last day of term 3 and we will see you back in nursery on 24th February. Have a peaceful and relaxing break

We are planning to take the children to the crib festival on Monday 2nd at 10.30. This session usually lasts about an hour and includes a story, craft activity, and donkeys as well as a chance to look at all the cribs on display. To be able to go on this outing we need a ratio of one adult to two children, without the correct number of adults we will not be able to go. If you are able to come with us please sign up on the board in nursery.
