✅ Great news for Torcross: construction begins on a £19.8 million rock defence scheme to protect the village from storm damage, following the devastating storms of January and February 2026.

🪨 Almost 90,000 tonnes of new rock armour will be placed along the shoreline to reduce the power of waves hitting the coast, alongside repairs to the car park defences and an extended slipway. The first rock delivery is expected by barge next week, weather permitting.

✅ Flood defences upgraded at Keyhaven ahead of winter

We've completed essential upgrades to the Avon Water tidal outfall at Keyhaven Harbour in Hampshire, better protecting around 40 properties from flooding this winter.

The outfall acts as a barrier between the Solent and Avon Water. Over time, the original structure had corroded, so our teams worked with specialist divers to replace it with a more durable structure, built to withstand the coastal environment and reduce the risk of water backing up and flooding homes upstream during high tides.

This work comes as we mark (12 to 18 October), encouraging everyone to:
