BS14 Foodbank Outlet

The time has come. Our wonderful volunteers and staff have been busy working behind the scenes and we are confirmed to be moving Counterslip Cares Foodbank Outlet to Christ Church Hengrove opening the doors on Thursday 12th June from 12.30pm - 2pm.

The Foodbank Outlet will run in exactly the same way as before and will still be overseen by InHope. and be a part of the Trussell network. You'll see the same lovely smiling faces of our volunteers (plus some new ones!) and we've been reassured there will be tea and cake as always!

Our name will be changing to become BS14 Foodbank Outlet to avoid confusion!

We had a busy April, providing 64 parcels which fed 87 adults and 88 children.

As always, a big thank you. We wouldn't be able to do this without the time that is given by volunteers week on week, your generous donations of food and money or by sharing our posts on social media! 💛

Evening! We've had a busy week at the foodbank, feeding 23 adults and 15 children. We are currently in need of pretty much all food items with the exception of baked beans and pasta. All donations, no matter how small, are greatly appreciated 💜

Last week we had a visit from the Reception class and teaching staff at St Bernadette Catholic Primary school. We showed them around the foodbank and answered lots of questions! And they very kindly gave a HUGE donation of food 💜 thank you so much!

Ever wondered what happens to supermarket food that doesn't get sold? Each week we collect surplus fresh food from Aldi, Co-op and M&S to add to our weekly parcels.

Last year this amounted to over 5 tonnes, which is roughly the size of an adult elephant! Reducing food waste and supporting families with good quality fresh food...it's a win-win!

We're on the move later this year!

Statement about the selling of the Counterslip Baptist Church Building.

We want to start by thanking the wonderful members of Counterslip Baptist Church, Bristol , who have generously hosted us and supported the Counterslip Foodbank Outlet for the past 11 years. With the selling of the building we recognise that there is concern about what happens to the foodbank. We want to be clear that the Foodbank is NOT closing and we will continue to operate. In due time we will be moving to Christ Church Hengrove and will be renaming ourselves as BS14 Foodbank Outlet.

This move won't be happening immediately, and we will only change our name when we have moved. We will update you all when we have the move in dates!

The service will operate on the same basis, anyone needing to access our help and support, will be given all the relevant information by the person referring them, we will make sure we advertise clearly when the move date is confirmed. We are excited about this new chapter, church and community at Hengrove, and look forward to be able to continue to serve the BS14 community until a time when we are no longer needed.
