Save the Baltic Wharf Trees Council developers are planning to destroy the Baltic Wharf
Green space by building high density, high rise flats, with the loss of 74 mature trees.

We all know the value of trees more than ever. We are campaigning to save them.

Great speeches, poems and music were shared yesterday, can only post one video at a time here. Born in Ghana, Akua Ofosuhene came all the way from London to share her passion for our trees.

David Mowat’s haunting trumpet playing “I vow to Thee My Country” was followed by his explanation: “We need to reclaim this and “Jerusalem” from the jingoists for this planet.” In his youth David was a musical protege, though he’s too modest to admit that. Thank you, David.

For those of you who missed yesterday’s moving Tree Brides Anniversary…All thanks to Suzi Hackett for compèring, to musician David Mowat for his rendition of “I Vow to Thee My Country,” as we renewed our tree vows. And to so many others who bravely stood up to speak for the trees.

Now that the Council has pulled out of building on the caravan park, we are petitioning for Baltic Wharf to become a public park, with one part devoted to a disabled adults playground.

Carer Michele Maurice said that 3 years ago her 52,000 petition had won cross-party support in the Council meeting. Nothing’s happened, so now is the perfect chance.

Will the majority Green Party live up to its name and stop giving into planning officers’ dodgy advice?

A public park for the Harbourside’s only green space—halt building plans & investigate the Environment Agency’s suspicious flooding about turn.

Private Eye has just begun to expose the scandal that saw the Environment Agency and Bristol City Council flood manager suddenly reverse their longstanding opposition to high rise flats on Baltic Wharf.

Isabel and I stayed under the lively trees here last night, enjoying night views of our favourite Nova Scotia pub, the lights over the water. We are campaigning to turn this into a public park, with a a special disabled adults playground on part of it.

Let’s hope the Green Cllrs actually live up to the party’s heritage now they have the power. We aren’t holding our breath and are organising the Tree Brides 3rd anniversary on Saturday 21st September!

It’s time to unite to create a public park at Baltic Wharf. We are making headway thanks to the recent Private Eye revelation.

Why is the Environment Agency (EA) suddenly going soft on the application for high rise flats at Baltic Wharf? There’s no possible escape route here, so nothing has changed except a paper promise of a financial contribution.

Please get your objections in before the April 24th planning meeting. Ref 21/01331/F on the planning portal. https://pa.bristol.gov.uk/online-applications/search.do?action=simple
