Bristol City Council Fostering

Bristol City Council Fostering Finding foster homes for children in Bristol. By providing a stable and welcoming home for a child you’re giving them the chance for a better future.

Fostering is a rewarding way to make a positive difference to a child’s life and a wonderful way to enrich your own. We welcome people of any ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion. It doesn’t matter whether you’re married, in a civil partnership, or single, whether you have a job, or if you have a disability or long term health issue. There’s no typical foster family, just as there’s no typical child.

Children and young people who arrive in the UK seeking refugee status, without their parents or carers, are usually looked after by local councils and placed with foster carers.

These children will have emotional, practical and cultural needs that you'll have to understand and support.

If you think you could:
✅give them a safe and supportive home environment
✅offer emotional support and be patient
✅support them with education, appointments, and leisure activities
✅learn about their culture and religion and make it part of your home life
✅help them build a new life, make friends, and create meaningful relationships

Then you could be a foster carer for an unaccompanied asylum-seeking child.

A parent and child foster carer helps parents stay with their children.

As a parent and child carer, you’ll supervise a new parent(s) and their child in the first few months of their relationship. You would help develop their parenting skills and hopefully keep them together in the long term.

If you think you have what it takes to become a Parent and Child foster carer, then visit our specialist fostering page: https://orlo.uk/GcBk8

Bristol urgently needs people who can keep siblings together.

When children enter our care, in too many cases they end up in placements apart from their brothers or sisters.

When you agree to take on siblings, you help them maintain valuable relationships. You also allow them to settle more quickly, because they can support and rely on each other.
