SWANA (aka Middle East) Support Group and Foodshare

Thursday 23rd January 6.00-9.30

This Week's Theme: Yearly Intentions for Community Growth

FREE ENTRY (But register your ticket as capacity is limited)

Locations: St. Werburghs City Farm

My name is Omar and I have started a support group for
People of Colour centred but not exclusive to the SWANA conflicts, genocides and humanitarian disasters. I have been particularly saddened and spurred by what is happening in Gaza, Yemen and Sudan.

So I welcome anybody who identifies with this group or is still exploring or figuring out their identity to come and share their story, bring a dish to share, and connect as a community here when so much of our communities have been fragmented abroad.

Message me for further questions or needs.

Please share if you know someone who might benefit from this.

"In a letter sent to parents on Monday from headteacher, Ben Houghton, and co-chair of governors, Rhiannon Ormsby, they explained that “a number of students across year groups left lessons to protest”.

“Some students have chosen to make their voices heard on the issues of EDI (equality, diversity and inclusion) and racism by way of protesting during the school day, raising issues that concern them."

Graffiti was sprayed on walls, toilets smashed and bins tipped over as around 200 students went on a "riot" in their own school
